Why are we adding money clips to everything now? Never once have a thought, "Wow this is a nice tool, if it only had a place to clip money so everyone can see how baller I am while using it.

sbbqMost pocket knives these days have clips, mainly for pocket use and looking at this knife it seems to be with the same thing in mind, however these Maserin knives are italian manufacture, overseas most knives aren't as 'edc/tactical' as they are here in the states, most are more traditional, similar to case knives, or knives like the French Opinel knives or Mora fixed blades etc. In truth it could very well just be a sturdy pocket clip advertised as a moneyclip overseas to warm people more to the notion.
That being said, some people also these days want more minimalist approaches rather than loading up their pants with so many items, I for one prefer to keep a lighter carry myself (mainly because girl jeans have shite pockets when they aren't false) so I value pocket real-estate highly. The idea of being able to trim down your wallet and combine it with a tool you would want to have anyway is appealing to alot of people. Now especially with a knife like this Maserin, its not designed to be a hard use multi tool, its a 'beater knife' masquerading as a "gentleman's" folder, with a modern simplistic European design language. It isn't a knife for most 'knife people', A good gift knife for a friend who likes the modern simple aesthetic. For most people this knife targets, it would find most of its use as a money clip, but be on hand both as a conversation starter, as well as a utility tool to snip away that loose fabric strand, or peel that apple during a lunch break after a meeting with clients at your design firm.

sbbqIt's because they really wanted to differentiate it from what it is and what the market is full of - knives with pocket clips.
I also hate phone folio cases that insist they need to be wallets, something I NEVER use them for, so there's no way around having a thick pointless phone case when all I want is a folio screen.
And I personally think it looks like an excellent pocket knife and that stupid "money clip" will simply be what it is - a damned pocket clip, so I ordered one.

HoneybadgersThe knife does look gorgeous and with its steel it should be a fantastic everyday knife that stands out from the crowd, not to mention doesn't look as intimidating or shocking if you pull it out in public on a busy street corner to peel and apple while you have your morning coffee.

KaralynI agree. While my personal "pocket knife" is, and forever will be an Opinel No. 8 (stainless or carbon, depending on what I'm feeling) for its timeless beauty, simplicity, and the fact that so many people recognize it and say "holy crap I remember those!" I do really need a pocket knife that has a clip and sits fairly flush without being "too big" because I use my knives every day as a medic, and tend to carry one of my opinels, which flops around in my pocket, and a gerber micro utility blade knife in my breast pocket. I really wanted a smaller folding (I'm legally allowed to use an assist open knife in WA state while on duty, but am kinda "meh" on them) blade that clips to the inside of one of my leg pockets. And this looks both gorgeous, thin, and well made.
