I'm not quite sure I can see where the price in this is coming form. N690 is good but not as good as any of CPMs alloys. Aside from that it's G10/Steel framelock. There are half a dozen Kizer Ti-Framelocks that come through here on a regular basis that are cheaper.
From a simple design aesthetic the overly large fuller seems like a strange choice. From what I can see from the images, it looks like they're using a proprietary pivot rather than Torx. I'm not the biggest fan of the whole glass breaker thing as well, although it's better than adding a bottle opener.
I've seen a couple of people tout the Thrust Bearing system over standard caged bearings, but at the same time I have to wonder if they're really that much better. Any knife worth it's salt (that runs on bearings) has grooved races on both sides anyway.
It seems to me after looking over the specs, that this blade isn't any better than any number of G10/Steel framelocks. If this is just about a "Made in Italy" label, I can't see that being easy to justify.
EDIT: While I stick by the majority of what has been written, it seems the back side of the scales is actually made of Titanium. It's still over priced even with that.
MaxwellDemonicI’d wager that lockside is titanium, not steel, as you can see the screws from the lockbar insert, which wouldn’t really be necessary if the lock side was already made of steel. That said, I don’t have any experience with this knife (or Maserin in general) so that’s just my assumption.
Jschreiner1349Lockbar inserts can also be used with steel, primarily if the frame isn't hardened. A hardened tool steel lock face on non-hardened steel will wear it away much more quickly than similarly hardened steel.

MaxwellDemonicToo late to matter, but there was a post on bladeforum where someone shared a pic of the paperwork that came with the knife, it listed the handle as titanium and G10
No mention of what the backspacer is though, so the usefulness of the glass breaker is still up in the air. I'm not a huge fan of them either, but at least this one isn't as bad as some
Still on the pricy side though, agreed, compared to other deals that can be had here.

KavikEven with half of the scales being Ti, it still strikes me as over priced, just less so.

MaxwellDemonicI'm calling it 65% Ti, don't forget the liner on the G10 side lol
But seriously, yeah, too costly for the materials
Also, I tried having a conversation here about the thrust bearing term being used as if it's a huge benefit of this knife......got no takers 🙄 It really is just caged bearings and grooved races, nothing special here

KavikExactly the races are either side of the blade and grooved steel washers. People latch onto terms to justify the spending.

MaxwellDemonicAnd someone in their marketing department probably got a decent bonus for cooking up that plan for pushing it to sound like something new and different and better 🙄

Something like that?
