I wish one of these keyboards would add a Trackpoint (pointing stick). The patent ran out a year or two ago, so I see no reason they couldn't do it, and it would make the keyboards so much better. Once one does that, combined with backlighting, I'll be sold. Edit: and wireless would put it over the top. That would be my dream keyboard.

vertigo220Looks like you are describing Tex Yoda 2 Backlit Keyboard. KBDFans even has an interest check of a Tex Yoda 2 RGB. Trackpoint, RGB, Wireless.

linneverstopsThanks. I've actually looked at that before and decided against it. I'm sure part of the reason was availability and I also think at the time I wasn't familiar with Massdrop, so I didn't know if it was reputable. But looking at it now, there are a couple things that make it a solid no for me. First, a keyboard without arrow keys isn't a keyboard. Just my opinion. Second, it doesn't look backlit, more like glowing under the keys. As for the wireless, I just looked into the one that was built that KBDFans was considering, and it uses Bluetooth. It needs to be RF wireless (like Logitech, which as much as I hate them they do a good job with wireless), since I've never used a Bluetooth keyboard that didn't frustrate me to some level. They go to sleep all the time, then when you start typing there's a delay before you start seeing the characters, and sometimes some of them are missed. BT keyboards are also notorious for repeating keystrokes.
I actually prefer scissor-type keyboards, but I figure a mechanical one is a better bet for a Trackpoint. I have the Lenovo USB keyboard which is great, but I'm on my second one because the micro-USB port on it is a POS. And it's not backlit. My main keyboard is a Logitech K800, which I love (great keys, wireless, backlit) but it doesn't have a Trackpoint. If I could merge the two... My perfect keyboard would be the size of the Lenovo one with some minor layout differences, USB-C + wireless like the Logitech, keys and backlighting like the Logitech, and, of course, the Trackpoint. If something close to that is done in mechanical, even though I prefer scissor, I'd be all over it.

vertigo220Probably because no keycaps support it and people really don't want to cut up their keycaps. Furthermore, they're probably just not a fan of trackpoints. Personally, I've had them on multiple laptops and they're a mess IMO. Don't like the feel and I'd rather use a trackpad/ball or mouse instead.
