Hi everyone, Production is well underway for the Massdrop ALT Mechanical Keyboard and we’re super excited to share the latest production images of the testing rig our vendor created to ensure all PCBs will function exactly as we intended. We're also excited to share a special video, linked here: http://dro.ps/alt-production-update.

We’re on track to meet the expected ship date of October 26 and we can’t wait for you to receive them. We’ll be back in mid-October with more updates!

JaleesaGCool looking, but what exactly is it? Test harness for the PCB and LEDs?

Kenshiro70I can share some more details about this test/check fixture...this is a "bed of nails" fixture that has contact pins touching all of the important points of a PCB simultaneously. This allows us to quickly check a PCB and run through our QC checklist without having to manually probe/connect wires to a board. Many of the pins are wired to the bare chassis with switches installed, which allows us to easily check each key is working properly. (The video also shows a peek at the pre-set lighting modes we've included in the default firmware).

john.yuNice. We've got similar solutions on the software side for our SAAS platform (I run Platform PM for Marketo). It takes an up-front investment, but more than pays for itself in terms of increased throughput afterwards.

JaleesaGI probably should have asked before joining the drop, but I was blinded by this keyboard's beauty... ;) I see a "home" key, but no "end" key... will I need to reprogram the keyboard (and get a custom keycap) to get "end"?

markooWe programmed the default keymap of "Fn+Home" to be the "End" function. If this doesn't suit you, the key-map is completely re-programmable using our configurator (going live soon!). However, a physical "End" key is not included in the box.

john.yuOk, that sounds good, thank you! I will probably either
* map Fn + / Fn + / Fn + ← / Fn + → to PgUp / PgDn / Home / End or * remap the Del / Home / PgUp / PgDn column to PgUp / PgDn / Home / End
I write code (mostly in vim), and I think this will work pretty well.
Can't wait! Thank you.

markooI personally map my left modifier keys to be different from the right modifier keys and that opens up a whole new realm of possibilities

JaleesaGWhen this drop opens up again, are there any plans to do something with gap between the FN and left arrow key? Aesthetics would be perfect if that gap could be eliminated or filled with a key.

JoshZSThe gap exists to allow people to quickly find the arrow cluster through touch typing. It's meant to be there!
