Mine shipped out on June 28th and they finally arrived today, July 21sst, and got the CX 5.00. Listening to them now and they sound pretty nice, good clarity in the upper mids and highs. The low end sounds a bit mushy but I'm hoping that will improve after a bit of burn in. Happy with them for sure.

I got the white CX1's which would be my least desired option. Oh well, luck of the draw. I got what I paid for so I have no venom toward Massdrop or this drop in general. What I do feel bad about is how poorly these phones sound. Thin, tinny and shallow. I was amazed that Sennheiser put their respected name on these crappy headphones. I have some old Skullcandy phones that cost less and sound better. The only thing the CX1s have going for them is low impedance that makes them sound louder than many other phones. I ended up dropping these in a desk drawer at work to use with my lap top from time to time.
I then bought some Soundmagic E50's and was very pleased. So much better sound than the Sennheisers (or Skull Candies for that matter) for only about $17 dollars more than I paid for these phones. I'd love to see MD do a blue box drop with the Soundmagic options; E10, E50 and E80!

HackenslashI definitely agree with you. Its really disappointing that Sennheiser is selling this kind of crappy products, I expected much better. I got the CX 1 tried it and tossed it(I have much better cheaper ones) Then my g/f got the CX 2.00 I listened to them and just a tad better. Better sound definition and bass is slightly present, but I.M.O. still lacking, not worth it. I don't know about the CX 5.00, but I dont think much should be expected either. Oh well...

I am not sure why a lot of folks are sulking over the fact that they got the CX1. It was very clearly specified in the drop details as to the chances of winning each item including the unlocked ones. MD also explains the process in which they are able to randomly pick winners for each. Rather than sulk over the fact that you got a CX1 or CX2, please give the earphone a chance.. allow some burn in, pair it with a DAP if you have one... and if still you don't like it, you can always give it away as a gift to someone! Just my .02$ as I noticed MD getting a bit of flak for something that is not their fault.

dormammuI think people are just more upset with the quality of the earbuds since sennheiser usually produces high quality earbuds/headphones

NozapYep sorry if i sounded offensive. My point was just that all the chances were already laid out by MD team There is no point being a bit salty after "winning" a CX 1.00. (btw, I got a CX 1.00 too :D ) . And ..just pair the CX1 with a good DAP and see how it behaves, it is not really that bad.

CX 1.00 received. Terrible, but a great way to scare new customers away from the Sennheiser name.

Kimberinitially, i thought the same and kept it aside for a few days.. then i tried it on my Onkyo DP-X1A and I kinda like it. Granted, CX1.0 is no Shure SE846, but for the price, CX1 does perform well. Just try plugging it to a quality source. Also, another advantage on using CX1 is that owing to its very slim build and design it sits deep in the ear canal. So I use it while going to bed and even with my ear pressed against a pillow, it doesn't hurt the ears now as it sits that recessed in the ear. I no longer worry about breaking the cables either as it is a cheap pair of IEMs!

I'm just waiting to see the people who got the really good stuff. Especially the Nobel X IEM just because I've never had anything more expensive then $10 (for an earbud) and I would love to know how those sound.

Review on Sennheiser CX 2.00
Pros: + Good clear bass for such small ear phones. No signs of distortion. + Treble is clear as well. + Overall sound is crisp. + Comfortable for long periods of time. (8+ hours) + 4 sizes of ear adapters to use. + Blocks out low noise well. (Will not block out airplane engine noise like over ear headphones though.) + Saved $2.43 through Massdrop at $29.00 over Amazon at $31.42
Cons: - No case for earphones! Not even a little baggy! - Sennheiser symbol on each ear phone deteriorated in a week! Easily rubbed off with finger. - Bass has a soft punch which some people may not desire. - Sound stage may be small which some people may not desire.
Other thoughts: I received the Sennheiser CX 2.00 in black for this grab bag, so I lucked out, plus they were slightly cheaper then Amazon, but "nothing to write home about" on the $2.43 savings.
Overall, the sound is very good. These earphones are small and they have good bass, but can't deliver a hard punch a more expensive pair could deliver. However, the bass comes in well and has no distortion. The highs and mids are also crisp, so I can hear all the little extra background sounds you might not pick up with loud speakers.
Other then that, the ear phones are very comfortable. There are no manufacturing defects to make the earphones uncomfortable and I have worn them for 8+ hours at work. Only disappointments were not getting some sort of tiny carrying sack and the fact the labels rubbed completely off so early.
I would recommend these ear phones. I wouldn't use these for working out, but despite the logo rubbing off they sound decent and they are comfortable.

i received the CX 1.00 this is the worst online purchase ever. it sucks. The other one is on the way and it is not even moving in the tracking list, that is going to be the big disappointment. I don't think Massdrop is really going to make me come back here for further purchases.

edfranklynC'mon... it is a lottery system! Your message is like saying "dang, i didn't even win a thousand dollars on the powerball while the other dude made 400 million dollars! It ain't fair! I am not gonna play powerball anymore!! ".. Seriously though, other than the delay in your second shipment, don't think MD is at any fault sir.

Got the CX 1.00. Definitely the worst online purchase I've ever made. I didn't expect them do blow me away or anything, but these don't even come close to that. I already had a pair of Sennheiser earphones, the CX 300-II, and I hoped these would be at least as decent as those, but they're waay off. I saw a guy here mentioning how they sound like listening through a tin can and i felt that's a bit too harsh for this pricepoint, but you have much better options here, and if you throw in a couple of bucks more you get really close to the best bang for your buck. I feel robbed somehow, but guess I should not skimp on something alike again. Better start saving for those QC35s.

EdwardRTAIf you think the QC 35's are an awesome pair of cans, I got news for you buddy! :) If you want an all purpose headphone (wireless, bluetooth, ANC et all), QC35 is a good buy for sure but if listening to music at good quality is your criteria, for 350 bucks, you are much better off with the HD6xx drop or an HE400i with a good dac/amp combo. If you need a closed back headphones, BeyerDynamic DT versions , AKGK550 or ATHM50x are good (and relatively inexpensive) options.
