BobrazExcept that they do not; Massdrop doesn't ship knives overseas. Moreover, eBay does ship overseas, and the prices are the same. As a side note, I've never won any upgrades through any of the 10 blue boxes I've joined, therefore I don't see the worth there either.

BobrazAmazon has Amazon Global Shipping free for order over 125 USD on select items for select countries. Knives are hard to get there. Most of the stuff at Massdrop is not available as Amazon AGS. For me both complement each other and cheaper than retail here.

nantipaneithWhy not say that in the first place? They ship to the UK which is more than Amazon does.

Bobrazyeah they work out at $180ish equivalent in the UK retail here, amazon.com does ship globally though as I get stuff there that either co.uk doesn't have or is way more expensive even after tax. Knives they (amazon) often wont ship outside US but there are cheaper US sources to global destinations. Problem is if you get stung for tax in a lot of countries it becomes more expensive than buying in country and at this price is is not worth it. Even if you won the freebies you'd get taxed on them since the law changes after China sellers marking everything as gifts you even pay tax on gifts these days (as well as tax on the p&p).
Plus there is a gamble in many countries since you run 2 risks in UK and some other places, 1: taxes and possible fees added make it more expensive than getting in country and 2: It clearing customs since they send a lot of stuff to Mount Doom for melting down. I've gotten nowt melted yet and bought from spyderco direct etc without issue but many have as customs play the miscategorising as a banned item game (eg. uk pen knife as a gravity knife because they held the blade and swung arm with all their might).
Latter seems ridiculous until you realise the point is not actually about that knife as they know full well it isn't that, it is side effect of self justification for funding and politics of hitting political projected figures and so on; making things look good on paper such as "this year we diverted £xxxxx of illegal contraband from entering country" and "crime in this sector down by blah blah". It is done across the board in many sectors for political reasons so they (gov't and organisations) can claim the've accomplished something despite reality may actually be the opposite.

badfrogEBay is the important point in my message. That they ship to the U.K. along with another three countries is as unimportant to the majority as UK knife legislation is to Americans.

nantipaneithyou may have missed the point of why I mentioned the law in country outside of MD base of ops, the "this isn't a deal" is met with "yeah for Americans, but the rest of the world....." when in fact it is worse for the rest of the world than Americans when you take tax and the import gamble in many of the countries that MD do ship to (UK isn't the only one, many they ship to have similar problem).
TLDR the defense for why the drop is a good deal for someone isn't standing up. The only defense I can see for it is you want to support MD. In fairness I am not knocking MD but just stating this isn't a deal for anyone I can see. I've said elsewhere Spyderco have MAP laws plus MD cannot get a better deal as they are small company that isn't knife only niche business and need to cover staffing etc costs AND turn profit yet we compare them to global businesses with massive leverage or sourcing direct prices ourselves from same places MD do.

nantipaneithmassdrop do ship knives overseas, I've gotten a few (including the spyderco delica blue box) here in Australi. It all depends on a country's import and knife laws

badfrogI'm replying and referring to your original (and pointless) question: "Why not say that in the first place? They ship to the UK which is more than Amazon does."
And the answer to that is: "Because the original post I replied to said "Massdrop sells to the world". That's why. Read it again."
Please, go up and try to follow.

nantipaneithPlease do not tell people to buy knives off Ebay. Searching Spyderco on Ebay and sorting by lowest price yields 48 counterfeits and 2 real Spydercos

JubsWhile you may be correct, there are also many great shops on eBay. white mountain knives, for example. Like with many tasks, a little common sense when buying online goes a long way.

KTENI've never paid duties and taxes when getting packages from Massdrop, making a lot of these drops a good deal for me (just go to my profile and have a look at my drops).
Agreed, I should not have assumed this automatically translates to great deals for all overseas buyers... Apologies for that!

nantipaneithMassdrop ships knives overseas. They stopped for a while, but the succumbed to the pressure from non-US buyers and started the international shipping of knives again. But apparenty they think that fixed knives are more prone to be banned than flippers, but I think it is the other way around.
