Just got my pair in the mail today. ~5 hours of listening in and I can't get over the lack of mid-range and muddy bass. Is it just my pair or is that how they are tuned to sound? I received the ms02's.

AudioguymikeOut of curiosity, what are your reference headphones? These are definitely not neutral, but they pass my "muddiness" test just fine. I think the sound they are targeting is something "syrupy" like the HD650/6XX.
It's all subjective (seriously, can you get any more subjective than "muddy" or "syrupy"?), so I wouldn't try to tell you that you're not experiencing muddiness. For me, 10,000 Maniacs live recording of "Because the Night" sniffs out badly over-emphasized bass like a bloodhound. Poor tuning in the 150-300hz range, like the Image S4 or Brainwavz M100 causes a distinct congested sound, like you're listening underwater or with a head cold. These don't produce that for me.
