Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Thinksound ms02: 43.5% ($119.99 value) Thinksound rain3: 27% ($89.99 value) Thinksound ts03+mic: 27% ($119.99 value) Thinksound USP1: 2.5% ($179.99 value)
The USP's had a stronger retail price than the on2's and the odds for the rain3's were lower, which in my view is good because of the consumer sound I hear they have.
Currently my Klipsch R6i are my go-to for earphones at work. They're more physically comfortable so I can wear them much longer than my Onemores (which I prefer the sound on but they're heavy as hell so ear fatigue sets in quickly). I tend to listen to rock (metal), EDM, JPop and KPop mostly (don't judge) so I like a little bit of a lighter sound. If I want boomy I go home and turn on my stereo. I think my biggest "issue" with the R6i is that I don't usually get a good seal so the sound quality and stage suffers a bit. I haven't looked into Comply tips for them yet though. (Okay, just did that. Looks like the 100s fit so I might order some and try them out. Historically I haven't had a lot of luck with foam tips before though.)
1More really has something special with their price/performance. I bought their piston headphones on sale for 10 bucks and was blown away despite cable noise, which was easily forgivable considering everything else. The closest I can think of that would mirror that sound are the Soundmagic E80s and the Fiio EX1s. The EX1s are very well-rounded to my ears with a rather comforting bass presence (the F5s would be a good alternative from Fiio with removable cables). The E80s from Soundmagic I feel are more balanced than their other offerings but the build quality isn't very consistent, and the E10s are still well regarded for less. Hope this helps! This hobby is ultimately very trial/error despite what some people (like myself) tell you about sound signatures, so always keep a grain of salt to take with this stuff.
Wouldn't the EX1s suffer from the same weight issue as the Onemores? Since they're full metal bodied as well. Very similar in design. I might try the E80s nex time I'm in the market though. I got a pair of Munitio 9s but they were so uncomfortable due to the body size (another big part of why I like the R6i). I fully agree that this is trial and error. I would never be able to bring myself to "sampling" earphones in a store (*gag*) so I just have to purchase and hope for the best.
I was eyeballing the Shure SE215s before I bought my OneMores. You can catch them on sale for $60 here and there. But! We'll see how I feel about the EDCs. Thanks for your input.
