Which LED is better?
To the people who have both LED lights; can you tell me different scenerios where one would be better then the other?
I know the Cree is a cooler temp then the Nichia but I'm still having a hard time deciding. I will most likely get both anyways Lmfao.

SegaGen3sisI have the Nichia and love it. The Cree is great if you just want raw power and brightness. The Nichia is really nice and balanced to me. Look way more natural. Although it is not as bright it is just a more enjoyable light to me, way less harsh than the Cree.

SegaGen3sisI too bought the Nichia version and absolutely love it for the warmer more natural light it gives off considering how I use it (part of my gentleman's edc carry). I am now considering getting the Cree version for my Victorinox dual leather survival pouch to replace the crap AAA light I have in there as that would serve as a better light for that particular need. I personally have no issues with my light and so far it does as it was stated it would do. Get 1 of each if you can otherwise go for the Nichia.

TRexSrCan you share a picture of your survival pouch when done. It's sounds like a cool idea.

Omegaman68It was actually made by Victorinox and I got it with my swiss champ around 1995 and it came with some decent survival gear. I do not know if they make it anymore but you can check this link I found on ebay for the exact same thing I bought and same price too (lol). The knife was lost to me in 2007 but my wife got me something similar (though lesser) for an anniversary gift a couple years back. Love my sak! http://www.ebay.ca/itm/291684423498

TRexSrThanks for the link, it looks very cool. I saw something a guy made similar to a wallet that held a SAK, a small flashlight and a fisher space pen. And it all fit in a back pocket about the siza and thickness of a tri gold wallet. I saw it on an EDC video on Youtube (yes I watch those, lol).

Omegaman68I am sorta looking into a new edc friendly wallet and eventually I'lol get something but for sure this leather pouch is not small but it is durable and handy but I don't wear it. It's sorta for when the SHTF and I go all urban tactical or into the mountains lol. The SAK usually accompanies me 90% of the time. My lights stay with the bag and my new ultra compact organizer from 3VGear. I wear that to work with a cheap AA light. Massdrop, lov'em or hate'm or a little of both gives me ideas and when the budget allows...nice toys.

TRexSrI agree with you on the SAK. I always carried one for about 20 years, up until about 10 -12 years ago when I started to EDC "tactical" knives. About a year ago I started to revisit my slip joints and now my Tinker is on me at least 6 days a week. This brass lumintop has been in my pocket every day since I got it and is a great light for the price despite its couple of flaws and it gets used at least once a day at work.

Omegaman68So I finally dig out my SAK survival pouch (in my GH bag) and this beauty slipped just nicely into the flashlight space where the former occupant, a solitaire maglight just didn't cut it. Well it was an old aaa light with no advance tech. Now I definitely want a black aluminum aaa to fill the space. Lol.

TRexSrhaha, those old Solitare MagLights used to be amazing in their day, it just shows how good technology has gotten!

TRexSrYes I am considering a black version as well. Gearbest has them in stock, I have never purchased from them but I may give them a try with this light.

Omegaman68GearBest is the aame place I am thinking of going. I'm not looking for fancy, just a good AAA version for the pouch. My light collection is slowly coming into fruition. Lol

Omegaman68I bought the black alu at GB, and it's great. Good customer service and the best prices out there. The only con is the shipping time. The black aluminium didn't disappoint me at all, it's maybe a bit easier to operate because of the more aggressive knurling. The aluminium also gives the light less weight to it and with the half-press tailbuttom switching between modes is easy.

Dr.OetqerThanks for the info. You have pushed me off the fence and I am going to order it. I will use the black aluminum for work and save the brass for weekends : )

Omegaman68Ive ordered a JetBeam from them in the past. It was shipped from Sweden & took 2.5mos to get. Tracking the pkg was auite odd to say the least also since it was shipped standard post. Trying to find web site with my info was difficult due to the transition internationally to domestic svcs. Just be aware of that and everything else worked out great. They have some of the BEST deals I you're willing to wait them out.
