My apologies if this has been asked, but I missed the CTH standalone drop. Any chance to snag one of the cancellations of the folks who upgraded?

Icculus514Wouldn't mind jumping on someone else's cancellation as well.

Icculus514Same. I have no interest in the combo. Not only do I already have a better DAC (Schiit Mimby), but since the combo only has a USB input, I couldn't even use t for occasional convenience. It wouldn't allow me to use my Schiit Eitr when listening to music from my laptop (this really improves sound from a USB output and requires a coaxial input on the DAC) and I couldn't use it for video which requires either a coaxial input (for the Blur-ray player) or an optical input (from my TV).

MarloweI think you have it slightly wrong here: the combo has an analog input and a switch in the front so that you may bypass the included SDAC and you could plug your Mimby DAC into the analog RCA input of the combo CTH amp. The opposite however is not the same: there is apparently no way of using the included SDAC and bypass the CTH amp to use a different amp or active speakers. This is the major limitation if this combo...

robinhood752Well, yeah, the amp has the same RCA inputs, so you can use it with a different DAC. But the DAC portion is USB powered and only has a micro USB input . There's no coaxial or optical input for the DAC as there is on my self-powered Mimby, so it can only be connected to a device with a USB output. For me, that means I could not use the DAC for movies or TV (no USB output on my Blu-ray player or TV) and while I could connect it to my laptop, I could not use my Schiit Eitr (a USB to S/PDIF converter that significantly improves the sound from a USB output) which requires a coaxial output on the DAC. Since I can't really use the DAC (which is inferior to Mimby anyway) I have no interest in paying for the combo amp/DAC, though remain interested in the cheaper standalone amp.
