Overpriced. This is high quality fixed blade pricing, and this is a folder. Being so overpriced in addition to such mediocre steel makes this a horrible deal, no matter how cool the design LOOKS.

JalucianIt's basically man jewelry. :) It's a looker for sure but I don't see myself ever carrying it though.

JalucianKind of a silly thing to say. I would expect a folder to cost more than a similarly sized fixed blade. After all, in a folder there are moving parts which means much more machining is required and would be much more difficult to design.
Speaking of which, that is what they are selling. The design. If you want a fixed blade with a fancy steel, go buy a Spyderco Mule Team or something in your favorite metal and be happy. But, don't expect it to impress anybody. If you want a piece of art which has a secondary function as a knife, then drop the cash for something like this.
That said, I buy my knives to use and this is way out of my price range considering its features as an EDC. However, I won't pretend my criteria for a knife are the end-all answer either.

LukeRHL"I buy my knives to use..." is very well said in summarizing your comment. Meanwhile, I buy my folders for the joy of flipping them. While I've a few "not too expensive folders" for actual functional uses, the more expensive ones are purely for the artistic design and the flipping action.
It is no difference than others who collected arts and enjoy the beauties created by the artists. To me, it is another form of relaxation that can be derived from simply flipping the folders and then appreciate the sensation of the smooth flipping action.
Basically, it is an expensive toy for fun and relaxation so to speak.

dtw898I completely agree with you, ie, there needs to some practical purpose. Around the $500 ... That is getting a bit ridiculous. Will it appreciate in value? Anyone who is not a knife collector will think you insane if you bought this. I would be embarrassed to tell people the price if I bought it.

it-manWhen you are ready to pay $500 for a folder you like, you won't be showing this to friends who don't understand the value. You learn to appreciate the craftsmanship on your own and share your fun with other friends with similar interest only.
The issue of embarrassment only comes into the picture when two people with dissimilar interests and values comes together for the wrong reason.
Thanks for sharing your thought.

it-manExactly. But don't forget that the Toyota owner also has the opportunity to become a Ferrari owner later in life. By then, this former Toyota owner will face the same dilemma when he is having a conversation with a Toyota owner in the parking lot in the future.
We evolve mentally, spiritually, and financially 'cause we are constantly searching to advance. Cheers!
