Awsome, but it takes some getting used to. The flipping action is GREAT! The safety is well hidden and has 2 stages, at least for me. I think this is done so that you don't sheer off your thumb when your closing the blade. I thought it was a fault in making but looking closer there is a small, what looks to me like a ball bearing stopping the blade from closing all the way in one go, and this is checked by a very small hole in the blade. This does make a small circular groove in your blade on the right side of the main bearing, but it's minimal.. Otherwise very smooth and very BIG, at least for what I'm used to... The design is out of this world! P.S. in the beginning, flip it HARD to lock well. After about 30 flips it locks smoother.

WackyTabacyThanks for the update. I'll probably add some lubricant to the ball bearing when I get mine so I don't have to flip it hard on the get go.

DaggatWhile I'm still waiting for mine, seem to me that Brous is not pulling the stock items by sequential number as in starting with 1, 2, 3 and so on. We could very well be the 1st 24 buyers but the stock was probably pulled randomly from the inventory. Otherwise, how do you explain Daggat got #65 while WackyTabacy got #31? Also, Brous probably sold some at the knife shows before offering MassDrop to be the first commercial seller.
But then, I really don't care what number I get when I get it. I just want to enjoy flipping away the Brous Raven for fun and relaxation.
Cheers!

WackyTabacyOk. Got mine today and is happy with the #33 not because of the sequential order but because of the double "3". Yay!
You're right about having to get used to the flipping since the flipper button is at an unusual position from my experience. However, once I get a hang of it, the flipping action is amazing. The blade comes out really fast giving the size of it. I've other big blade folder but they never come out as fast as this one. And it is very finger friendly as well.
There are two detent(s) you have to push thru in this folder. One when you open it and the other is when you close it. Even after you push the frame-lock out of the way, you still have to push thru the detent to close the blade. The only way to bypass the detent to close the blade is to keep pushing the frame-lock until the blade pass the detent before you let go of the frame-lock. This is going to require some getting used to.
There is something about the design of this folder that can only be appreciated if you're holding it. It is the handle. After the blade is out, there is not a lot of metal for you to wrap your palm around the handle for a knife of this size. In other words, my fingers can touch my palm which allow me to grab the handle as tight as I can. Also, if I do a reverse grip (with the blade cutting edge facing up and the point facing down ), it is very comfortable and feel very natural to the hand. Basically, I can hold a boxing stance (with two fists in front of me) and barely feel the Brous Raven in my fist (in reverse grip and pointing down).
I agree with you. It's a beautiful folder and I'm glad I got this one!
Love it!
ps. Because of the blade design, sometimes I feel like I'm holding an ancient artifact which, to me, is VERY COOL. :-)

dtw898I find one thing very weird about my knife. Mine has only been machined (hollowed out) on one side on the inside, on the side of the clip. On the other side it hasn't been but there is a marking (31) made with a blue marker! If I look at their XR-1 on the website both sides have been machined to save weight! Is this normal?

dtw898Daryl Hannah should have been carrying this in "Blade Runner".

WackyTabacyMine is the same. I also have the #33 marking which matched our folder serial number. I don't think this is an issue of normal or not normal. I think it is Brous decision to not hollow out one side for whatever reason. My guess will be to keep one side with stronger backbone using a solid titanium piece since this is, after all, a large knife when opened.
If Daryl Hannah carried the Raven in the "Blade Runner" movie, we wouldn't be able to buy at this price 'cause demand would go thru the roof since the movie was quite popular at the time.
Cheers!

dtw898It's a question of balance. Cheers!

WackyTabacyYou just explained the reason. Since the hollow side has the additional screws and attachment to the frame lock as well as the pocket clip, it makes sense to hollow up the side so the total weight comes close to the weight of the opposite side which is a solid piece of titanium with nothing else on it.
