So after 2 days of listening to this headphone, I finally wrap it up and put it back int he box. Is going to be one of those shelved headphones that will remind me not to jump on the hype train (but I doubt and it seems I always fall into the same rabbit hole).
The sound didn't opened up after burn in and the sound signature does not suit my taste. I've read pad rolling will improve the mid range and clarity but I am not going to put any more resource into a $150 headphone knowing it will not beat the M1060 in my collection.
I will put it on Head-Fi for sale and if anyone in Canada especially the GTA area interested you can PM me here or on forum.
fallenmig...u did pay more for m1060. They are definitely more open back. this is a mod on a t50 where the vents are couple lines on the side.
point is I don't think its fair when u are comparing a product almost half the price of the other.
ofc u are welcome to dislike the sound signature, but please no need to state the obvious.
FukuroHmm. Well, I own the T20RP Mk3, and they're my favorite headphones. I decided to order the M1060 after reading all the hype on various forums, to see if I'd like them better than the Fostex. Like you, I figured $300 headphones should probably sound better than $150 ones (actually, I was able to get the T20RP for about $65: $115 with a $50 Fostex rebate when they were originally released). To me, the M1060 sounded less refined and grainy. I thought the T20RP were superior by a fairly large margin. Ended up returning the M1060. For me, the T20RP Mk3 has turned the pricing model in the audiophile world on its ear and made me realize, once and for all, that higher price does not necessarily equate to better sound quality. They're the least expensive headphones I own, by far (although I've never paid more than $400 for headphones) and, as I mentioned before, my all-time favorites.
mechaMechaI have the t20 mk3 as well and also got my friend a pair, and by having different pads, ie he had velour hybird hm5, and i had angled hm5, the sound signature was completely different. I understand that, since I also like the t20 for the veiled sound.
M1060 has good sound no doubt, but its also rather depend on what one hears from them, personally I'm completely happy.
Yes not higher prices does not necessary mean better audio quality, but just because one is better doesnt mean its a rip off.
As far as most people are concerned m1060 has a more liked sound than the t50rp, t20rp well we are minority :)
