I modified the cables on my pair of ebony Th-x00. Although I love the headphones, the mod cost over $150 since I don’t have an electrical background (someone else did It) . honestly I’ve been a bit jaded about this because 1) it increased the spacing of the wood so now the sound leak is much worse (and the bass & aesthetics are a bit off), and 2) The combined price of the TH-X00 EB, the mod, accessories, and a carrying case would have been enough to buy one of the main-line Fostex products (even if it had to be used). I would have been less jaded if I had truly understood the implication of that super-long, non removable cable that came with my un-modified pair. It was a pain and constantly became tangled (not in knots but like clockwise twist on cables). Additionally - the converter to be able to use AUX made the headphones a hassle and a drag (literally, even with the most light-weight converter, it consistently was an annoyance due to weight and came unplugged). that all being said I actually own 2 pairs, one with the ultra dark ebony, and one with a slightly browner Ebony (the modified pair) lol. I guess I’m just a supporter - but one that wishes he had the ability to purchase the TR-X00 [FOMO].
