CaptainSparrowI agree, and the disgusting sounding midrange. Unfortunately I sat on my pair and snapped the hinge ;-(, always check your chairs folks. Also they're lacking a bit in detail, IMO.

CaptainSparrowThese headphones are so over hyped. They don't feel good on your head and leak too much. My beyerdynamic dt 250s are better than these for half the price or less.
I don't know how these headphones got so many good reviews. Seems like too many groupies.

jonafernThese headphones are so damn good, I literally can't take them off for half a year already. My meze 99 classics are nothing even close to these in bass quality, female vocals, engaging sound and comfort.
I don't know why old deaf people underestimate every pair of headphones that are not bright as hell to compensate their bad hearing.

CaptainSparrowYes. Loose clamp is the biggest downfall for me since I have a very narrow head. A swap with a DT990 Pro strength clamp is what I’m thinking these cans need. Luckily the Dekoni Nybrid Lambskins improve the fit for me drastically. But having my ears shoved inside the pad opening is basically how they stay on my head.

CaptainSparrowI don't own a Sony mdr-1a, but these are EASILY the best pair of easily drivable low-impedence closed back headphones (IE good for mobile/in public usage) I've ever heard.
I think they sound pretty good. I've played some male accappella (Straight No Chaser) at 24/44.1, some laid back female vocals folk (Natalie Merchant Tigerlily and Butterfly, Norah Jones Come Away With Me) in 16/44.1, some Google Play Music "Mellow Chello" radio at "high streaming quality"... it's all sounding pretty exceptional to me. Certainly blows anything else "closed back" that I've ever owned away, including my Sennheiser HD1's, my B&W P3's, and my HiFiMan Edition S's...
And they definitely do rock/respond well to "bassy" music, too. But these don't sound like 1-trick-ponies, to me at least.
