There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). Is this a tent just for you or are you sharing it with someone
whats your budget?
Do you live in the desert or NW or somewhere in between And as a result do you want true double wall, hybrid double wall, or are you okay with single wall.
Will you be snowed on?
Is free standing important (it isn't)
if you arent sharing with anyone a two person tent will be more than sufficient. If you are sharing then a large two or small 3 will give you more space.
In general I recommend tents from two manufacturers. Six moon Designs and tarp tent.
given your two to three person request I'd look at the stratosphere from tarp tent. It's a big double Wall shelter with good head room and reasonably light weight. It does use trekking poles or optional vertical poles for support and is not freestanding but lbs/sqft for a double Wall tent it's tough to beat.
if you are mostly solo and want more room the two person skyscrape trekker from six moon designs is where I would start looking
