Does anyone have experience using this in a hammock diagonally? Is it effective? Do you think it will work?

Only samples at the Massdrop office exist so far, so it would have to be down to one of the staff members to test them out. But it could be fair to compare this pad to existing pads made by Klymit. So you could search 'Klymit sleeping pad in a hammock '.
I imagine if I were to do it in cold weather I would want a wide model so the insulation would wrap around me more not leaving the sides of my body a exposed to the sidewalls of the hammock. This is theoretical. Haven't hammocked before. But I've seen videos on YouTube by 'Shug' where he adds side wings to his pad so his arms and shoulders don't get cold. Check this video:
