My pad (size large) was delivered today (Wed. 7/12) at work. First impressions: Love the inflation and deflation valves, the non slip dots, and the overall size and dimensions. However, at the head end, there is what I would characterize as a triangle shaped chamber which when inflated is higher than the V-chambers on the rest of the pad, sort of a like a pillow/bump. Lying on my back, my head is on the "point" of the triangle and wants to roll left or right. Not stable or comfortable. If I scoot down the pad to avoid the bump, my feet come off the end of the pad. I usually sleep on my side with a Sea to Summit Pillow so I will need to play around with this some more at home to see whether it's something that can be worked around it but my first impression is that this pillow/bump is a bit of a non-functional annoyance not found on my other Klymit pads.

eje67Try it with a pillow and please report back. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I don't think it was intended for this, but the Massdrop x Klymit Pillow X might situation perfectly right on that bump, so it actually might be a bonus. I'll have to try it out when I get my large.

DannyMilksThanks, good suggestion...I have a Pillow X which I will try out on the pad as well. Ordinarily the Pillow X is not thick enough to be comfortable for me when I'm side sleeping but the bump/Pillow-X combo might be a good one.

eje67Sadly my x pillow has gone missing, by itself I wasn't comfy as a side sleeper as well. With my S2S it's too high.

DannyMilksThe bump is seriously no bueno. Why Klymit why?? It just screws up whatever pillow system you've worked out. Not happy with the bump. It was rating pretty high with me till I realised it messed up my preferred S2S pillow. Much too high now. Aaarrrggghhh....I'm

DannyMilksThe bump has grown on me...when using my usual pillow (Sea to Summit Aeros) the bump isn't really noticeable, and when using the Pillow-X, the bump elevates that pillow to a better height for me. If I didn't use a pillow the bump would be a deal breaker but with a pillow it's not a problem. I'm assuming some minor surgery could be done to flatten the bump using scissors and an iron to reweld but not sure I want to be the guinea pig on doing that haha.

eje67Just received mine today, also a large size. Mine does NOT have the pillow bump as others here are reporting. I wonder if there was a batch that missed that one seal at the top, causing it to be a larger chamber than it was supposed to.
Overall I'm very happy with the product, Massdrops customer service, and that I received it before my trip in August. Hopefully others can get their pads sorted out.
Edit:This is a regular size pad, NOT a large.

DannyMilksSo how do these of us not happy with our defective pads get replacements? If the pic without the bump has your comment that is how the pads should look, mine does not look like that. I would d like a replacement. I waited a long time for this pad, no trip right away, have other pads, but that does not mean they didnt screw up. Do i need to contact Kylmit or massdrop?

VajtagalI'm talking with Klymit now about how to handle this. I don't know how many people have a funny bump like yours. If it is only a few people, we can send replacements quickly. I'll get back to you shortly with guidance on replacing the pad.

eje67It would be more than minor. The excess would have to be removed, after serious math or plastic surgeon skills employed to figure out where and how much to remove, and where to reseal.

Rival178All of the Long pads have the bump. We didn't realize it would be so pronounced, and are offering exchanges for newly modified pads with no bump. Please see my post above for more details, and thanks for posting. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-klymit-ultralight-v/talk/1738732

DannyMilksOriginally, there was a post and picture of pad with no bump. It is removed. And now it's not a defect because they all have the bump? That is not the definition of defect. Also looking at the pictures on the drop page shows no bump. Damn it, this means waiting a very long time and less than 50% chance of getting a pad that is useful. As it is, it is useless. I wanted this pad, but not defective. I will need to think long and hard about massdrop. Thank you Danny for finally posting something. Though a eeek is a long time to not hear a word. I will check back with Klymit as I emailed them directly with concerns and pictures .

DannyMilksI can't say I'm buying "The bump's not a defect per se because all of the long pads have the bump" as Woodcutter previously posted a pic of a long pad with the regular seam and no bump. The explanation that the long pads with the bump were designed that way and nobody realized how pronounced the bump would be does not jibe with the existence of long pads with the regular seam and no bump. Either there were two designs (unlikely) or one design and a manufacturing defect in some of the pads. This new explanation is also not consistent with one of your earlier posts in which you said " We want you to be happy with your pad, and we do have extras in stock for a quick exchange." At this point, for me it's less a design/defect issue and more of a credibility issue.

eje67You're right and I should clarify. The bump is not a not a defect in the sense that it's not like five people got defective pads, while everyone else got normal pads. All of the Long pads have the bump, but none of the Regular or Short pads have it. The bump was certainly not intentional and we'll exchange it for everyone.
The second question was about us having extra stock and being able to exchange quickly. Klymit can manually add another baffle to reduce the bump size. There are two ways this could happen. You send them your pad, they add the baffle and then mail it back to you. Or, they could take a pad from the extra stock, add the baffle, mail it to you and then have you mail your original pad back. The latter option is better for you as you're not without a pad and it's a faster turnaround. That's what I was trying to write. Does that make sense?

DannyMilksI don't want the defect lessened. I want a non defective pad. There have been contradictory posts from you causing me to feel as eje67 does about credibility. The pictures of the pad on the drop page don't show the bump. NOWHERE on the drop page does it say the long wide pads will have a pillow built in. NOWHERE is there any mention that the long wide pads will be different. Trying to say it's not a defect because all the pads have it is like saying all the liv rove 3 women's bikes in smal thst came off the assrmbly line today have a bent top tube, but because they all have the bent tube, it's not a defect. Im not interested in waiting 6 months or more for a solution that may well be half a$$. If massdrop will ship me an insulated static v lite to replace this defective pad it would go a long way to restoring my faith in massdrop. And it is just plain good taking care of the customer. Basic good customer service. That's all I want now. Now I realise those who expressed doubts when the drop 1st dropped were right. There were no pictures of the actual pad because it was just a design in someone's head. So- send me the Klymit insulated static v lite, and not only will you restore my faith in md but others with same pad. Would go a hell of a long way toward restoring people trust in md.

DannyMilksWhen you replied to woodcutter and the pic of a large, other words long and wide, pad WITHOUT THE BUMP, you words were " that is what the pad should look like". More credibility issues. Because now you say something entirely different. I am saddened I must say.

VajtagalTo clear up some confusion, the pad I have is actually the 'regular' size. I had it in my head that I ordered the 'large,' but after checking, it is indeed the 'regular' . Sorry for any confusion.
