Insulated Sleeping Pad in 3 Sizes

Following the success of the Static V Ultra Light sleeping pad, we’re excited to announce our second collaboration with Klymit: the Massdrop x Klymit Ultralight V. It features the original’s 20d nylon fabric, 60 g/m2 insulation, and V-chamber design, plus a couple of notable updates. First, the flat valves allow for faster, easier inflation, and second, the non-slip treatment helps keep your pad in place on slippery shelter floors. And because we know different backpackers have different needs, we made this new pad in three different sizes: short, regular, and long.

New Features, Time-Tested Design

Let’s start with what’s new. The flat valve reduces the time it takes to manually inflate your pad and can be attached to an inflation bag for an even more convenient setup. Along with being much easier on you after a long day on the trails, an inflation bag inflates using clean, drier air that won’t dampen the insulation or cause mold over time. To ensure your pad deflates quickly and completely, it features separate valves for inflation and deflation. Then, there’s the non-slip treatment, located under the torso on the short and regular pads and under the torso and foot areas on the long pad. This treatment adds virtually no weight to the pad and goes a long way toward getting a good night’s sleep. From the Static V Ultra Light, we kept the comfy 2.5-inch thickness and the durable fabric, which blends in nicely with wilderness surroundings, dries quickly when it gets wet, and stays quiet as you move.

Which One’s for You?

The regular pad has the same dimensions as the Static V Ultra Light (72 inches long with an industry-standard 20-inch width) and weighs 17.7 ounces. It’s a great pick for anyone looking for a lightweight full-length pad with the added features of a flat valve and non-slip treatment. A full foot shorter at 60 inches long, the short pad is well suited for shorter adults and teens who might not need a full-length pad—and it’s more compact when packed away. Plus, at just 15.4 ounces, it fits well in smaller tarp tents and bivies and makes a good choice for ultralight backpackers looking to save a few ounces. Finally, the long and wide pad measures 76 by 26 inches. Try it if you’re bigger or taller, if you toss and turn at night and need the extra surface area, or if you value the extra comfort provided by a larger pad. All three pads are insulated for four-season use.

Yes, I think it only takes 3-4 full breaths for the regular. Edit: I should note that I am a male and weigh about 200 lbs so this could vary quite a bit.Read More

I can guarantee you that whether you're comfortable with this pad in winter depends on your body, your gear combo, etc. I personally don't find this warm enough even in fall if I'm using a quilt...Read More
