for anyone considering using Yamaha studio monitors, i highly discourage you from using this setup. Yamaha HS5,7,8 NEED XLR or you will have noise.

PixelPusherXXI think the output is just a loop out and doesn't do volume control. You'll still need a preamp if you want to use it with monitors.

PixelPusherXXYou mean the static noise that comes from class D amps? Right now I have RCA to TRS into my LSR305's and I hear that static noise if you're right up to it. I did have them XLR to XLR when I had a different setup but I don't remember or didn't try hearing the static noise.

Aftermanyep, static. XLR keeps it very very low... like you have to have your ear up to the tweeter to hear it.
