Are we able to send the signal out from the 3.5mm output into something else (like an EQ) then send the signal back into the SE RCA Inputs to the amp?

LionelwkhWhy would you do that? I really doubt you can, and even if you did, would't it be easier to EQ before (software EQ)?

Eli35Because I prefer hardware EQ to software EQ.

LionelwkhThen go for a balanced EQ, like this one: https://productionmonster.com/shop/signal-processing/professional-dual-channel-31-band-equalizer. Or just use the TRS and go unbalanced.

LionelwkhMaybe consider to grab the Loki from Schiit? You basically add this to your setup with rca and voilà!

TatonisI already have the Loki. That’s why I’m wondering if we could loop it in.

LionelwkhI'm interesting in that product, how is it? Do it bump the bass or the highs well or that don't really effect the sound?

Lionelwkh As I can see, there is a way with a 3.5mm to rca cable, that you daisy chain in the loki.

TatonisYeah but I doubt you can use both DAC and Amp as separate modules: if you select the USB input, there's no way you can use any other input than the DAC for the amp section. You know what I mean? Watch the input selector, there's only three options, and the whole CLX has 3 inputs (USB->DAC, XLR and RCA).
That being said, you could always buy a standalone Amp (Like the CLX without the embedded sDAC or a Schiit Jotunheim) plus a discrete DAC (like a sDAC or a Schiit Modi 2) and do the DAC-EQ-Amp chain properly. It'll take a lot of space from your desk, and require some wires, but it might be better in the future when you can always replace/upgrade just one component each time.

Eli35Yep, I Roger that.
But, like the Massdrop employee CEE_TEE say:
-LCX+SDAC allows you to compare the internal DAC with an external DAC. -The LCX can be fed from external sources (DACs, CD players, digital audio players). -The LCX+SDAC can be used as a DAC into another amp. You may want to try a tube amp on top.
So, you can compare the internal dac with an external dac. It must bust be between usb and Rca right? The LCX can be fed from external dac. So, I am pretty sure that the rca inputs are for that. And he claimed that the internal dac can be used in another amp. Right for this one and it's your point but sadly nothing say that you can have the internal dac working when still using the RCA inputs...
So, only CEE_TEE from Massdrop can answer your question properly with the actual product in is hand, but I will assume that it is not possible or there is maybe a little chance that the dac could be working in background as long as it is connected to the computer and maybe the input selector just act as a device selector like on windows if you can understand my point. But yeah, I think you may need another dac to use the Loki as you just have mentioned.

TatonisYeah I bet that once you select RCA input the whole DAC is disabled. Let's see if someone from Massdrop can enlighten us!

Eli35But is the Loki any good? : )

TatonisI mainly use it for mid bumps. The trebles work well if you need more detail, but the bass only gives you the mid and low bass, not so much sub bass enhancements. My bass is enhanced with the tweaks provided by the ifi audio iCan SE and the iTube2. But for what it is and what it costs, the Loki is a great product.

Not sure if this can be used as pre amp for speaker.

Lionelwkh I found this info on CEE_TEE discussion somewhere when just googleing something...
Audiophile Custom Products DAC & Amp Update 9/18/2017
CTH+SDAC Some good news…we are working to add the 3.5mm output to the SDAC in the CTH+SDAC. The 3.5mm output will be next to the microUSB input jack. You may use a 3.5mm to RCA cable for output. So, there is no pass-through on the CTH+SDAC but you can now get a line-out from the SDAC.
So, as it turn out, if the trend continue, the 3.5mm could act as a line out. So, if that is right, you may be able to feed the amp with the dac because if I take my Darkvoice 336SE as an example, the dac feed the amp, but the pre-out still playing at the same time. So, at the end, it depends again about what they decide to do with this revision. I know that they do some tricks to it, because the amp is now balanced with their topology revision to convert the unbalanced dac to balanced XLR output.

TatonisYeah, I knew about the 3.5mm line out, the key here is knowing if the amp can be fed from RCA while the DAC uses the USB input, which as said before I doubt it's possible, but you never know.
