I've used my Minimic daily ever since I received it and here is my feedback.
The reason I bought Minimic was because my ModMic 4 cable couldn't stand the constant bending when moving the microphone to more upward position when I was not using the microphone - I kept fixing it by cutting the long ModMic cable shorter and soldering the wires, which worked until another place got strained. Fortunately Minimic cable is more flexible and even better, is terminated by a female TRS jack, so even with a bad cable it should be possible to simply swap it out for something else, plus it allows to control the length, something which had not been previously possible.
The inline volume control/mute I cannot stand. I wish there was an option that used a completely straight cable without controls as well, like ModMic does have a muteless option. This would eliminate one potential point of failure that I have experienced on some headsets in past.
Sound quality is reasonable however it seems to be picking up too much noise. I have a compact fluorescent desk lamp and the electrical noise from ballast is picked up even when the lamp is turned off. Unplugging will kill the noise, but since I need the lighting, I resorted to attenuating the noise via software instead, which unfortunately lowers the audio quality. Also even without the desk lamp ballast, just holding the microphone between fingers produces a noticeable buzzing noise. Noise from either source is not being picked up by ModMic.
The flexible boom I like, however I think it could be a little stiffer, but is good enough right now that it is no big deal.
The locking mechanism and adhesive are problematic. I am pleased that it came with a couple of spares, but I didn't really think I would have to use one up so quickly. The adhesive on the headphone side of the first pair already simply came off today, immediately touching the pad I was surprised it was bone-dry. I cleaned it up with an alcohol pad and installed the next one to see how long it will last, considering getting some stronger 3M double sided tape instead.
The Dual-Lock should be a lot stronger even on poorer connections. Sometimes it sticks extremely well, but other times it comes off too easily. What I am trying to say is that there shouldn't be a wrong way of sticking it together if both the headphone side and microphone side are aligned when connecting. Currently the Dual Lock is a lot stronger when pulled away straight, however at an angle or using a lever like pulling from the far end of the boom seems to detach the microphone too easily. ModMic had that issue too with the magnetic attachment system, but it was not as noticeable as it is with Minimic.
Right now it feels like I am getting less quality for less of the price. If the issues I mentioned (noise, adhesion) were to be addressed, this would be considerably better than the compared ModMic.
Update: next adhesive pad from the replaced dual lock came off from the dual lock side (stuck to the headphones), this happened the very next day.
Update 2 (28.12.2017): Next adhesive pad came off from the headphone side (pad stuck on headphone, Dual Lock stuck on mic).
Update 3 (10.02.2018): I am on my last pads.
Update 4 (11.03.2018): I bought some stronger 3M double-sided tape (3M VHB 4905), which I cut to size and attached to already used pads. It feels noticeably stronger than what came on the dual lock pads but I will leave it on for a month and then report back.
