You know after all the awful reviews I've read here some of them are unwarranted. If you live somewhere where the ModMic is easily accessible then yes, the price isn't that far off, BUT with the Minimic you get worldwide shipping for just $5 unless you buy the ModMic4 from Massdrop as well.
Getting on the actual MiniMic, the sound is simply terrific. There is actual buzzing noise, yes but it is not the Mic's fault. It's yours. That is static buzzing (electric current) from your PC flowing through the mic which causes the actual noise. Any type of analog mic will have that sound and it is not Minimic's fault at all.
The velcro pad sucks compared to an easily attachable magnets, but since I received mine a month ago, it still works perfectly fine. If you really have to have magnets you can change it easily with some strong double tape and a magnet bought from a nearby electronics store.
Tl;dr Mic is a total bargain with shipping. Sound produced is terrific. Buzzing noise is your fault. Velcro pad sucks but easily replaceable.
I use a V-Moda Boompro, which shouldn't be an issue to get for Europeans, as it's a French company. I've yet to see a solid comparison of it with the Mod Mic, but have found it to be a solid single cable solution, and no buzzing sound even when using on board audio.
That being said it's only compatible with headsets that use a standard 3.5mm removable cable, like V-Modas own headphones, Philips Fidelio X2's , or SHP9500's.
Look up mic tests of the Boompro. I'm not sure if I can link it but there's a YouTuber I usually watch for most of my mic purchases that goes by Podcastage - his entire video is recorded using the Boompro and it sounds great.
In terms of audio quality the MiniMic, Mod Mic and the Boompro are all exceptional with the only con being 'buzz' which any mic can have with enough interference in the area. The purchasing decision comes out to how well it attaches and unfortunately the MiniMic is completely out of the race in that regard judging by countless comments here. It also doesn't inspire confidence that Massdrop has yet to release a statement on the issue or mention improving the adhesive/attachment solution in upcoming drops. I could have sworn when this drop finally stopped being "In Stock" they were working on releasing a v2 model but I guess they're content with mics that stop adhering in 2 to 5 weeks.
