FatheredPuma81I've had two fail on me, tell me more about how high quality they are.
The cable is completely uninsulated, and literally comes apart to reveal super glue, tell me more about how high quality they are.
The mute capsule is often broken out of the box, tell me more about how high quality they are.
The adhesive to stick them to the headset fails, tell me more about how high quality they are.
The velcro the adhesive sticks to fails more often than the adhesive, tell me more about how high quality they are.
Massdrop talked about 20 weeks ago about new mounting solutions, and then went completely dark and continued to sell them, tell me more about how high quality they are.

I'll wait.

PigmonkeYCable sucks: Buy a $5 cable off of Amazon if you dislike it so much. You bought a microphone not a cable that sounds 5/6 as good as the Modmic. But yes they did cheap out on the cable a bit.
I will give you that the mute is pretty bad.
Yep the adhesive does fail. It's far too sticky and will rip stuff of your headphones like it ripped the rubber off of my 598 Cs'.
It's not Velcro lol are you stupid? and it holds the microphone on there incredibly well. If anything it holds a bit too well as I find myself almost ripping my headphones (again) if i'm not careful. You sure you're not applying enough force for both the adhesive and the dual lock fastener?

FatheredPuma81point 1: I have tried plenty of cables. Doesn't seem any of them work, you'll find that if you scroll down in the posts here. Seems to be some kind of proprietary cable.
Point 2: Yes, it is velcro. Do you actually own one? Dual lock is just velcro. The velcro on mine (both the original and replacement) literally falls to the floor if you turn your head too fast, nevermind actually touching it.

PigmonkeY1. I just tested your proprietary claim and have proven it false by simply switching the cable around and plugging it in backwards. If it was indeed proprietary this would be completely impossible as 1 end would NEED to be to hook up like a traditional microphone cable to work with any microphone slot. 2. Have you even looked at the Velcro patent? It's not Velcro... it's similar yes and much much better. I have to hold onto 1 side of the DLF so that I don't accidentally tear my headphones rubber and because the plastic part holding it to the thing will probably come off first if I hold onto the cable.

FatheredPuma81I'm sorry, "hook and loop fastener". It's velcro, bud.

I dunno how much skin you have in the game here to be defending these guys.

FatheredPuma81Dual lock is literally heavy duty velcro, man.

PigmonkeYVelcro uses metal and strings dual lock fasteners use metal with balls at the top and metal with balls on the top. Completely different but same result.

FatheredPuma81There's no metal involved in either velcro or dual lock...
Where are you finding this information?

PigmonkeYWiki you sent me: "The first component features tiny hooks " Hook Wiki page: "A hook is a tool consisting of a length of material, typically metal" It's a good guess that it's probably metal as plastic wouldn't be too good in this case.
I'm guessing that the DLF is metal but it might be plastic as when I put my lip to it it doesn't feel cold (in a cold room) similar to how metal would (I do not have Velcro on hand to test this). Backing up my previous claim that it's not a Hook and Loop it says on their Amazon posting "interlocking mushroom-shaped heads" and doesn't even look like a Hook and Loop in any of the images I can find that are high enough quality to see them.
Alright are we done here? It's very obvious you're jumping about from one thing to another as soon as I prove one wrong (grasping at straws) and it's getting tiring and you can't exactly jump to a previously stated thing as we're in text and not talking through voice so I can simply copy and paste anything you jump back to and as far I can tell you have no where left to jump to.

FatheredPuma81Pretty sure all my original points still stand, except maybe the cable one (which i'm still having no luck testing here...you understand that mono/stereo tls cables don't have one end or another, right?
All you argued was that it wasn't velcro, and then I proved that it is.

I've got one of the original launch ones. I'm on my last dot because the hooks and loops fall off, if you can get the adhesive not to fail. Mute capsules on both my old ones and new ones are failed, one out of the box (crib death on the replacement)
You'll find a lot of other people have the same exact experiences. This is made as cheaply as it possibly can be. Try literally anything else on the market, Modmic, Boom Pro....you'll see how they get away with charging 20 dollars for this.

PigmonkeYAlright I can't test to see if the cable is un-insulated and i'm inclined to believe it's true with the constant static noise in my microphone when I turned the volume and boost to max, doubtful that it's superglue but i'm not opening my up and many many things use glue to hold them together, the mute button does indeed suck and while works it's not exactly a "mute" button as it has tons of random noise when you use it (in my experience) and again you can purchase a new cable with a volume control.
I don't have enough experience with cables in general to understand what you mean so the only way I could think of it being proprietary would be on 1 end as the other end would need to be the same for a jack to understand what it is you are sending (with some variance obviously for possibly mono) which by simply flipping it around proves this false and I have heard that many people have tried different cables with success and it has improved audio quality. Sadly I do not have any male to male cables to test this. On top of this they advertise the ability to easily switch cables if the old one breaks which would mean it's unlikely it's proprietary.
Microphone audio quality is subjective but i'd say 5/6 the quality of a Modmic.
I've only had mine for a few weeks so i can't tell you how long until it fails. This also means it's possible they use to have Velcro and changed it silently with slight changes to their posting and the only thing I can find on Wayback Machine is from late 2017 with it still saying "Lock and Fasteners" which we've proved is completely different. Same goes for the adhesive.
Adhesive works and works in my opinion and experience (of a few weeks) too well as long as you do not attempt to stick it to things and take it off repeatedly. We've already proven the Velcro statement to be wrong and again it works almost too well (for me) require lots of force to take off.

Alright I think that's everything? Sadly I cannot prove your experience wrong and you cannot prove mine wrong.

HotwinterdaysThese are confirmed working by me just now, got them in the mail today. http://a.co/bdaQICZ I made sure that they were TRS cables, aka cables that have two black rings on the metal tip as opposed to one. Although I'm not really sure if that matters or not but I just made sure they looked the same on the tip.
