So if my source comes through Dragonfly Red which outputs 2.1V and my cans are either IEM or sub 100 Ohms headphones then it is safe to pick medium gain version so that I won't go over the 7V limit and won't blow my ears, right?

WarongThat is the way I understand it too. I'll also be using the DFR from time to time with the O2 and will then be using the low gain mode on my Normal Gain version of the O2. Moreover, if the 2.1V DFR was to be my main source for the O2, I would then choose the "Medium gain" version of the O2 (1x-3.3x) instead if the normal gain version (2.5x-6.5x). But both amps may be used using the proper gain accordingly. My main source will be my Onkyo Network Stereo Receiver's analog line out which has a maximum output of 1v. Therefore the normal gain version of the O2 is preferable for me for now.
