Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Personally though, I'm going to hold out in hopes of a desktop friendly version and see how the reviews for the first batch turn out. I expect glowing reviews and a rush to buy the next time this is offered. My wish list for a desktop version: Rear Power Rear RCA inputs 1/4" output on the front Rubber Feet Keep the matte finish, symbols, red LED, O2 Headphone Amplifier label Keep the metal volume knob and add lines around it and a dot on the knob to indicate volume level Add Massdrop logo on upper right Matching matte black finish on complementary DAC when offered Choice of gain level at checkout, choice of power supply at checkout
By the way, am I the only one annoyed by how the power and gain button are just slightly lower than the input, output and power jacks? You would think that they would all line up horizontally. I see it's like that on the JDS and Mayflower version as well, probably caused by the height of the jacks vs the height of the buttons once soldered onto the PCB. Does NwAVGuy's BOM prevent switches with different height being used?
The BOM does specify which switches, power ports, and 3.5mm ports need to be used so there isn't really much they can do about it unless they ran leads and mounted the switches to the front panel, but I'm not sure that it would be worth it.
I hope this drop for the standard version of the O2 is very successful so it's more likely Massdrop will launch a desktop version with the features that everyone has been requesting. The only things that seem to be hampering that are the 110v only power supply and that Mayflower/JDS are offering their O2s at a discount (that they can afford to discount them to $99 from $129 gives you some idea of the mark up they have at standard cost). The Massdrop offering is still a discount from the discounted prices elsewhere and personally I think the matte finish is very attractive.
