Hi, I bought an 02+ODAC(revB) on the last drop,
I just bought a Chromecast Audio for streaming lossless audio over WiFi @ home.
The chromecast has an internal DAC (mini-jack stereo analog output), I can already connect it to the O2+ODAC for amplification, bypassing the ODAC.
However the chromecast also has a TOSLink output (the stereo mini-jack cable also has as an optical fiber running through it in its center, very clever).
So I have been looking for a digital-to-digital TOSLink-output-to-USB-output adapter, to be able to feed a digital audio stream from the Chromecast AudioTOSLink output's to the ODAC mini-USB input, to try and bypass the Chromecast's internal DAC and to use the ODAC instead (which should sound better).
I have been looking all around the interwebs for such a thing, couldn't find anything (found plenty of USB-to-TOSLink adapters though but not the converse)
Would anyone know of such a magic adapter to realize this chain:
Chromcast Audio (TOSLink out) -> (TOSLink Input) magic adapter (USB output) -> ( mini-USB input) ODAC/O2 amp -> headphones -> ears ?
The only option that's left would be to buy a new DAC with a native TOSLink input (which I would like to avoid for now).
Regards and thx for any recommendation.

anterak13I would just get a raspberry Pi and stream to that. Would be a much simpler way to stream lossless to a DAC over wifi. I just found this page which could help http://www.pimusicbox.com/

GH0S1_R33P0RThanks! Pi Music Box seems very nice :)
FunnIy I came to the exact same conclusion minutes before you posted your comment, ie that a computer of sorts needs to be inserted between the chromecast and the usb DAC (or simply replace the chromecast alltogether), since a usb DAC needs to be connected to a host running some sort of OS with appropriate drivers to talk to the ODAC.
For playing files stored on my local network I guess a Pi running the MPD daemon and any kind of client on any platform could do the job; However the chromecast's integration with android apps and the chrome brower is very sleek and would be nice to keep.
So to keep the chromcast front end, I though of using a RPi with a wolfson audio input extension card which features an spdif input, but this isn't specially cheap.
Music Box with a RPi B+ would be a good start and perhaps as capable as the chromecast so I'll think I'll try that first and then get the wolfson board if I'm not satisfied.
Thanks for the tip GH0S1_R33P0R !
