Hey Everybody,
As we near the 500 unit cap for this drop, I feel it's best to make a post and let everyone know something important.
On Saturday, we're releasing our O2+ODAC combo unit for $199.99 shipped in the United States.
I'm announcing this now so anyone who wants to can cancel their participation in this drop and wait for the drop on Saturday.
Best,
DeathbyMusicYes, the stack indeed has batteries for the O2. I was wondering about the combo-unit, however. Thank you for your effort anyway! =]
(JBS has a combo version with batteries, it would be sick if MD's version had it as well)
WillThank you for the heads-up, Will! I hope there'll be an email announcement to the participants of this drop, because judging from the past, there will be a lot of "why weren't we notified earlier?", "who has time to go through 10,000 pages of discussion?", "if I had known I wouldn't have bought this" and so on.
There'll probably be a couple of "I never received the email" regardless...
NeotribalLets hope so! This ODAC drop uses revB, so my guess would be the combo would be too.
Still not sure if I should go for the combo or the stack... Both have pros and cons.
KyuuniThe stack requires more cables, but you get a battery with the Objective 2. The combo is more compact, but has no batteries. Just get whatever suits you most or whatever is cheaper. I'm personally going to get the stack since I can do different dac and amp combos. I could just switch out the O2 with something different, or the ODAC for something different, so that's one of the reasons I'm going for that.
WillA few more questions about that:
- ODAC original or RevB ?
- who manufactured it ? (Yoyodyne, JDS, Mayflower ?)
- what are the gains set at ? (JDS recommends gains set at 1.0/3.3x when the O2 is used with an ODAC RevB.)
rattacko123I know what the gains are on the standalone O2, but when the input is from the ODAC RevB, this is what JDS Labs saids about it:
"The dual gain button allows you to select between low or high amplification. This configuration (1.0/3.3x) is optimal for all headphones when O2 is driven from a 2.10VRMS DAC, such as O2+ODAC RevB. Other gain configurations are only recommended for O2+ODAC if you need to drive the amplifier from a stronger or weaker audio source. If you're unsure which gain levels to choose, the default option is best."
rattacko123Exactly. The stack is more versatile, and has something aesthetically appealing. It's a bit more expensive, but that doesn't matter to me. I'll be going for the stack as well =]
