I won't be joining this one because I already have too many quilts and bags but this looks like a great drop! Weight is totally acceptable for a ul 2+ season quilt and in the temps it'll work in, probably most people won't even want to use pad straps...extra "cold" leg room won't matter either and is sure nice to have. Really a great pice on it, good job. This would be awesome around the house, too. I'm not embarrassed to say that I have taken to using one of my summer 40F quilts nearly year round in my own bed. Once you fall in love with down backpacking gear it's hard to enjoy normal bed blankets anymore. lol

StepbystepThanks for the kind works and I couldn't agree with you more. My 4yo son currently sleeps at home in the smallest youth Revelation that EE makes, and I often use my old Golite quilt.

DannyMilksIs that the Golite UltraLite 1+ Season Quilt? If so, how do you think these two compare? The Golite has been my main 3 season quilt for years now. This one looks to be a little warmer, longer, and lighter then my regular Golite.
Regular Golite: 1 lb 4 oz total weight 7.76 oz 800 down Massdrop Pine Down: 1 lb 3.2 oz total weight 10.5 oz 850 down
Looks like the width is a bit narrower though - 56" at the shoulder for the Golite vs 54" for the Massdrop. However, the Golite is tapered and typically, when temperatures drop, I use a stretch cord on the mid tie outs to keep drafts down. Looks like no tie outs on the Massdrop, but probably more width.
All told this "blanket first" looks like a pretty nice replacement quilt for my Golite.

WasserMy quilt is actually a Golite Feather 40, which was a zipperless, hoodless tube sleeping bag from that I got on sale at REI in 2003 for $50 (down from $200). A friend helped me cut the back from the shoulder to the knees, to make it open up like a quilt. And for many years my wife and I used it as our only quilt. Now I have a lighter, warmer EE Enigma XX Wide as our double quilt, and the Golite is regulated to car camping and home.
But to your predicament, it seems like you could easily cut taper the legs and add a few straps or cords to make it to be a suitable replacement to your golite quilt. This would probably be warmer. If you got really fancy you could add width to the shoulder area with the fabric and down you remove from the foot area. I hadn't thought of that before but that's pretty great. Also remember this blanket is super long, so you could remove some fabric to make it shorter, lighter, and warmer.
