DrathnorBecause retail price is a marketing strategy. Everyone makes up an inflated number to put on paper so that people can feel like they're getting something off. As a retailer I can tell you that forgoing this practice is hard. So many people would rather see 50% off a totally made up price that has no meaning in the real world rather than a non "marked down" price that represents a good value for the product you're buying. Alas it's part of the "game" and there's equal blame to go around for it existing.
