This pair versus this very well received pair of BA IEMs (https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/FiiO-FH5-Metal-Case-Knowles-Detachable-Cable-MMCX-Design-Quad-Driver-Hybrid-HIFI-Earphone-3-5mm/1473108_32900255794.html?spm=2114.12010608.0.0.5bb5e72864GaZb)
w/o being able to listen to either, it's tough and massdrop returns are so painful and slow I consider any product I buy here final.
just to share: i own the MD+ and had tried the FH5 (though very very briefly) recently. I was impressed with the sound of both! i felt the sound signatures of the 2 are quite different and if i had more money i would buy the FH5 too to swap around depending on my mood XD. IMO, The FH5 offers a musical, fun and balanced presentation while the MD+ offers quite a interesting mix of flat/neutral yet still fun sound with the boost in the sub-bass region. Paired correctly and with right eartips, it has quite a clear and detailed presentation along with lows that reach a decently-sized depth. I can listen for hours and fatigue does not set in as quickly as i suspect it would if i leave the FH5 running in my ears.
The MD+ is lighter and easier to carry around than the bulky FH5 with its thick stock wiring though. I was able to able to get a good, comfortable seal for my MD+ so its good for bringing around and wearing in noisy places. Felt that both the FH5 and MD+ are definitely value-for money iems.
Not everyone likes neutral/reference-like tuning, so the best is always to try similarly tuned iems if possible to get an idea.
Both pairs have quite a few reviews on headfi. suggest u check them out too if you are unable to demo :)
Thanks for this. Judging by the DR chart alone, it would seem this pair a tad strong in the 10k-20k FR, In fact would seem treble is more responsive than the bass. I'm super treble sensitive and seeing that curve is sort off-putting to me. Not a criticism of these IEM, just the type of listener I am.
On the stock single flange sillicone tips some tracks do have sibilance. i stuck to using the supplied double flange tips and never had an issue with shouty vocals, or sibilance pierce.
Running them through a player w <2ohm impedence, they sound good to me. anything above that level of impedence makes the sound too warm for my liking.
