Snagged one pair from a guy in my country who didn't want it because he wanted to upgrade to HD 700. Please suggest a good DAC/Amp combo to use with the HD 6XX. :D

shadyincI can full-heartedly recommend a Fulla 2 + Magni 2 stack. Sold off both my DACport Slim and HD once I got that setup.

SomeTechNoobThank you, kind sir. I've been also recommended Modi 2 Uber + Magni 2 Uber stack. Can you help me understand the difference between that and the ones you're suggesting?

shadyincModi 2 Uber can support higher resolution files(24bit/192khz, needs schiit's driver installed) while the Fulla 2 only supports up to 24bit/96khz(driverless). Is there an audible difference? Not in my opinion. Most songs are recorded in 44.1khz anyway.
The Modi 2 Uber probably has a better/more robust design and should result in better audio quality. It has a lot more inputs as well, which can help depending on your use case. Whether that's worth an extra $50 is up to you.
The Magni 2 Uber provides more power and also a passthrough for powered speakers.
I went for a Fulla 2 + Magni 2 since I wanted to stay around the $200 limit instead of $300+. Went with the Fulla 2 over the Modi 2 for the extra features(variable out to control speakers) and the fact that it's a detachable standalone unit which I can bring around with me.
Oh, thought I should add this too. The Fulla 2, Magni 2, and Modi 2 have a matte steel finish. The Magni 2 Uber and Modi 2 Uber have brushed aluminum finishes. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so having a matching stack was pretty much necessary for me.

shadyincBudget?
If your budget is around $100, I gladly recommend: Schiit fulla 2 (Usb powered) -No need to buy extra cables if you already have micro-usb cables, Tons of features.
$200 What SomeTechNoob recommended, a Fulla 2 with a Magni 2(personally recommend Uber ed- $50 more for MORE POWAR) -NOTE: 3.5mm cable to Dual rca needed here to output fulla 2 to magni 2
The difference is that magni 2 has significantly more driving power when compared to the fulla 2, therefore can drive headphones like the 6xx well. However, fulla 2 reviews show that the sennheiser 6xx is driven exceptionally well also. Magni 2 uber recommended if you want MORE POWAR and will be upgrading to more headphones that need more power.
$260 Here I can gladly recommend the Aune x1s. Exceptionally musical amp and dac combo, whereas the fulla 2 and the rest of Dac and amp combos I will be recommending are more clean and output exceptionally uncoloured music, analytical and neutral. Do note that the aune has similar power to the O2, much less than the schiit magni 2 uber. -Usb cable provided
$280~$300 range Dominated by the O2 Dac and amp combo. Provides very similar sound when compared to the schiit fulla 2 and magni 2 uber, however this is a more elegant all in one unit like the aune. Much less power when compared to the magni 2 uber. -Mini-usb cable needed

Scarce97That's one heck of a recommendation list!
Was reading up on O2 DAC/Amp combo. Great single unit. I don't want too many cables and a stack next to my 25" monitor. I want something that can drive the HD6XX so that I can enjoy the music. I think my ATH-M50x serves me well enough for the near-neutral sound that I can enjoy. So here's the deal.
My budget is $300 and I'm torn between O2 DAC/Amp combo and Schiit stack. Need a DAC/Amp combo to drive my HD6XX cans and planning to buy Audioengine A2+ for my desk. Won't be upgrading headphones any time in coming two years at least. Will read up more on Aune x1s. Had totally forgot about it, so thanks for reminding me.

SomeTechNoobI read somewhere about the Modi 2 Uber + Magni 2 Uber stack. Planning to use mostly my HD6XX to enjoy select 24-bit/192khz files. Should that be a good option, or should I go evaluate O2 DAC/Amp combo as suggested by Scarce97.
Almost bought Chord Mojo twice but backed out mostly because it has a battery.

Scarce97In the $300 range, the Audio-Gd NFB-11 is quite popular as well. Top tier and often endgame DAC/amp setup. It is generally considered better than the MM2U stack. Although imo it doesn't look anywhere near as pretty.

shadyincAmp/dac don't make as big a difference as most people here claim. O2 amp (without DAC) will drive your 6xx perfectly, it was designed with the HD650 in mind. Don't spend more on the amp/dac than the headphones

nyctemeneDacs do make a difference but then again audio quality is subjective. If youre unwilling to spend much on a amp/dac, go ahead and get the fiio e10k at around $67-80. Will make more of a improvement when compared to a amp alone.

shadyincGlad to hear! If you can find a second hand amp you might be able to save a bit too. The following article shows blind tests with various DACs http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/high-end-pc-audio,3733-19.html

Scarce97Audio quality can definitely be objectively measured. DACs have been indistinguishable in blind tests. You must have extraordinary hearing if you can honestly tell the difference. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/high-end-pc-audio,3733-19.html http://nwavguy.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/what-we-hear.html?m=1

nyctemeneAh, Nwavguy, that's a well known guy that designed the o2 amp and dac, he was absolutely all about the frequency response graphs of audio gear. He was all about product bias and how you couldn't tell apart 1k dacs from the odac and because of product bias, expensive stuff doesn't make a difference. I agree that spending 1k on a DAC is way too much, but if you believe that DACs compared to no DACs don't make a difference, Maybe you're a not so accurate. DACs matter, but after the odac, you would be hard pressed to get a better DAC. For no DAC to a DAC makes a difference, but from a oDAC to another so called "better" DAC you could probably not find any difference.
But really audio is subjective, if you tried a DAC and claims that it makes no difference, then its up to you to whether a DAC changes audio or not. Always try sound before you believe whether it matters or not.

Scarce97You can not have no DAC - any electronic device which produces sound has a chip which converts digital to analogue. You cannot go from 'no DAC to a DAC' unless you have device which is unable to produce sound - which is not a meaningful comparison. All electronics with the function audio jack have a DAC.
I'm sorry mate, I'm an empiricist and that is just bullshit. It is not 'up to you whether a DAC changes audio or not'. Unless you can tell the difference in a double blind test consistently, there is no meaningful difference for listening to music. This a fact, it doesn't matter whether using a better DAC makes you feel good, if you cannot tell the difference without seeing which DAC is producing the signal there is no practical difference. You are literally using the arguments flat-earthers and climate change deniers use to debate scientific evidence.

nyctemeneLol bro calm down, if you don't believe a DAC improves sound quality thats OK also lol as sound is subjective.
