I don't think they have any problem selling them at $300 normally. Especially with all the rave reviews on you tube. Personally, I think my k712s($235) kick their ass, so I really dont care. I'm also not going to wait untill Xmas. Whats with that?
Yup, on eBay, a heavily unsanitised HD650 that you don't care about it but only for functionality

Honestly, there are some people or audiophiles who doesn't care about the "dealzzz" they are getting elsewhere compared to the atrocity of the minor price bump-up on MD. They come here for something unique to their collection, along with the functionality. And chances are those same people couldn't care to wait for a while till Sennheiser finally finishes making the batch for MD to dispatch, assuming they will be starting manufacturing the 2nd batch once this drop finishes. What these people care about is the traditional German quality they're getting over the years and it doesn't apply only to Sennheiser. Other manufacturers are trying to strive for quality while at the same time meet the demand and timeframe. AKG tried that and even a post on one of the drops had many people concerned about QA on the later batches of their K7XX.
Sure it might be more expensive than its counterpart - the HD650, but it is for the sake of the community, not for you. If you don't want to wait for this, share the snippet of the order right here that you have ordered the HD650 from elsewhere well reasonably priced and there you can get all the respect from others. Otherwise, you can get yourself a PC37X that is cheaper than this and that it is a decent performer. If that doesn't cut the cake as well, I dunno, why are you even here in the 1st place?
And MD. I've never in my life been asked to pay for something that should already have been made and wait 6 months. Unprecedented! MASS DROP not mass collection and wait half a year. I love the idea of the masses obtaining power, but I think this has strayed from its intended idea.
Again, value isn't concerned here anymore but there you go. Last drop exploded; value, yes; any preventive measures Massdrop took from technical and availability issues? Doesn't seem like it. Lessons learned? Perhaps... ...but it isn't over yet.
