Only discovered Massdrop when I found a article about these headphones not even a week ago, trying to debate if I should buy a set even though I've had a set of hd580's since 2002 or so that I've replaced top/ear pads, cables, and even one of the drivers on over the years of owning them. I agree seeing a 50 dollar increase in the price is a bit disappointing, but man, even at 250 this seems like a good deal.

J.LoweFrom what I hear, the HD6XX are great. However, for about 30 bucks more, you can get the HD600's off of places like Amazon or B&H. Even if the sound signature isn't the same, it's not a major price increase and you get it days after ordering, unlike here where you'll only get them in December.

J.LoweIf you don't have a DAC to drive these you won't really notice much improvement. A decent one of those will run you close to 100 bucks so keep that in mind when buying these. The same is true of all high Ohms headphones.

DylanFosterThanks, I had a used a headroom bithead (early affordable amp/dac) for years with my hd580s (which were basically the first version of the 600/650s), but have been using a old harmon kardon dpr 1001 receiver with my headphones for a while now. Just started looking at headphone amps and dacs again, since last time I looked at this stuff it has come a long way, and apparently far more affordable now.

J.LoweYou can get pretty good ones for cheap. Schitt has surprised me and with a name like Schitt stack, what could go wrong?
