OverpricedAFBy my calculations roughly around $316.72 CAD, give or take another $10 or so. That's including the currency conversion and estimated surprise import fees. Depending on what credit card you use it might be even more if they charge a 2.5% foreign transaction fee, so you could end up with something around $324.70-ish.

Stormageddon46By 2.5%, are you talking about TD. I used TD credit and my quick googling told me that they will charge me 2.5% of the item cost I guess. In the case of Ontario, do you have any estimate as to what they are charging us I'm terms of duty fee? That's what I'm most concerned of. Based on my research, it seems that they will charge the GST which is 5% of 200usd or 261 cad. Can you confirm this or correct me if I'm wrong? Thanks. I just need to be sure as I will let someone else to receive the item instead of me as I will most likely be outside the city for a while.

RaikozyYeah, I think all TD credit cards have that foreign transaction fee. The only credit cards I know of that have no foreign transaction fees is the Amazon Visa and some other RBC card (I'm not sure which one). The foreign transaction fee you'd get charged upfront so it will just show up as part of the currency conversion on your statement.
I'm not sure what the exact amount is for import fees, it also depends on what shipping carrier they'll use to ship it. Some shipping carriers like FedEx or UPS add an additional brokerage fee on top of import charges, so it's been my experience so far to account for at least 13% of the total cost of the item. I might be overestimating but that's a worst case scenario. The last thing I bought from the States was a Schiit DAC and amp and I got charged at the door with a little over 13% of the entire cost including shipping.

Stormageddon46Thanks a bunch for the input. So for that 2.5% charge, TD will get that value from the (200USD + 15USD shipping, converted to whatever their USD to Cad rate is). I guess I'll see how much they will charge me when the drop closes tomorrow. Not to worried as they will charge straight to my credit card instead me having to prepare a cash on the front door. Hmm darn, 13% eh? But then again, the 13% charge is calculated from the 200 bucks 6xx, and not including the shipping i guess. So just say that including the increased TD exchange rate, that 200 USD ends up being 270 bucks CAD, and say they will charge 14% of 270 CAD, the duty fee ends up being ~ 38 bucks. I guess I will just prepare 50 bucks and I should be good to go haha.
