I wonder what smart phone the women in the picture is using to be able to push this 300 ohms monster, I didn't know smartphones were so capable....being sarcastic....
If the person was using a high powered DAP, maybe I'd believe but who uses open back outside?
What I'm trying to say is, why false advertise showing that it can be used outside when they are clearly not meant to. You are throwing off the next person who have no clue what they are buying.

MannyAkimThey can be used off of a phone, ohms don't mean anything for how hard they are to drive. They won't run at their full potential but they will work.

MannyAkimYou can use it with a smartphone (I own the 650 and I've tried) it doesn't sound the best but it's drivable.

eddie.cWhich smarthphones are you guys using? And so, where is your volume at? The only smartphones that are capable is the V10, V20 and when it comes out V30. HTC 10 can also do an okay job. But, still you are not utilizing the full potential of the headphone, which is why even massdrop/head-fi recommends certain Tube AMPS and such.
My whole point of all this is, even if you have a "capable" smartphone or high powered DAP or even a Woo Audio WA8, why use an Open Back? Outside noises messes with the immersion of the music as well as publicly announcing your music to the person next to you.

MannyAkimGod damn it's just a marketing picture. Don't have to get do jazzed up over a picture. I drove it with a OnePlus 3t and like I said it doesn't sound the best but it's drivable and actually usable not that you would want to with a open backed headphone anyway.

MannyAkimAn iPhone works to at least play them, you don't need anything special just to get them to play. Obviously it won't sound nearly as good an an AMP, but it will work They are not as hard to drive as people think.

eddie.clol, I know its just an marketing picture but at least it should have a person at home listening instead :).
I totally understand that some phones can get good sound out of these but doesn't it bother you that you are not getting full use of your headphone? The K7XX would have been a better portable solution. I own many open back headphones, HiFi-MAN HE350, AGK K7XX, Sennheiser 598SE.

MannyAkimI didn't say I'm using my phone to drive my hd 650s on a regular lol. I tried it cuz I was curious. The 650 stays on my desk driven with an amp.

MannyAkimEven if you are being sarcastic, my LG v20 (new v30) can push 300ohm headphones surprisingly well.

MannyAkimlol. If you Find this smartphone then please buy me one 😂😂😂I have a Beyerdynamic dt990 600 ohms that are thrown deep in my wardrobe as I couldn‘t find a cheaply enough amp that can drive them to a point where I can enjoy them. I have only the magni 2, fiio e12, e11 and all of them failed to do the job

BlueCrownedThat’s a proper song for the SF Bay Area today given the record low air quality from the nearby Napa fires.

MannyAkimI saw a guy listening to HD580s on a bus, so I guess it's possible. But more to the point, there are a lot of phones (though mostly flagships) that can drive these just fine (iPhone, Samsung, LG, etc...). They are actually a pretty easy load. The main problem is that they're really open. If you're some freak that's used to using open headphones on the bus, then it's no big deal. Trust me, there are lots of people that use open headphones or earbuds on the bus.

shimageMost flagships (iphone and samsung) have crap AMPs. You should read up on Head-fi or check out pocketnow Real Audio on youtube. If person is using smartphone without portable DAC/AMP combo then its apparent that majority of people don't know what they have. Majority of people buy things based on looks and reviews without understanding what they just purchased.

MannyAkimWrong, most are perfectly adequate. It is amazingly easy to design and manufacture an amp that's good enough. Amps on some phones (like from oneplus), though are indeed lacking. Head-fi is filled predominantly with placebophiles, although sometimes I go there for laughs. The sound science board can be interesting at times, though.
