This is the first drop I joined. Jumped in at the last few minutes. Looking forward to getting my pair. I'm not really a serious headphone junkie, but I appreciate good sound and I think these are a great deal so...
I had the 1st gen Momentum over ears but were not happy with them (ear cups too small and lacks detail). But I remember auditioning the HD600 and I liked the sound and comfort, so I have an idea how these will be.
Only question is: do I need an amp for it? I have a Fiio X5 3rd gen and it's rated at 28mW @ 300 ohms.
28mW is OK, not great. I'd say see how you feel - ears matter more than specs, if not then you still have the flexibility to pick up an amp like the O2 and use your X5 as a DAC.
I recommend getting a Fiio A5 for a portable set up. That's what I run with my X5 MkIII and HD650. It sounds great... even though it doesn't get as loud as I'd like it to sometimes.
@ImageX what type of case(s) is/are in the pic holding the X5iii and A5? Was it made specifically for that pairing or was it made for something else that you had to modify in order to hold the Fiio gear? I really like the looks of it and have been looking for something similar.
I had the same question. Thanks for replying ImageX . I might just go the A5 route. But still researching. Trying to stick to a budget of <$200 for the amp, but the Schiit Asgard 2 and Valhalla 2 are really tempting!
