Wassup Everyone! Anybody with a Schitt Audio Jotunheim Amp/Dac combo slate knows how the HD 650 or 6XX will sound with it? I'm planning to buy the Jotunheim Amp/Dac combo very soon. Plus just ordered customed cable for my 6XX from ursineaudio.com and check out the website if you need a custom cable needed for your HD 6XX.

jah_offisah808It's a very good combination with my Bifrost Multibit -> Jotunheim combo using the balanced cable configuration.

565HunterThanks and pretty stoked about getting the jotunheim soon and the HD 6xx shipping before Christmas. That Bitfrost Multibit of yours must amazing. My daily drivers right now are the El 8 closed back, Fidue A83 IEM and the Isine20 from Audeze with onkyo DP X1 dap.

jah_offisah808Many that say the Modi Multibit is a significant step up from the internal DAC in the Jotunheim (USB only) and it gives you the added benefit of having a coaxial SPDIF input which for me is essential. I still listen to my CD collection and having a great DAC connected to my CD player is heaven. Much better than playing it through the computer's CD/DVD drive. It only adds $150 to your planned setup. YMMV...

565HunterOkay so what if I had purchased the Jotunheim and then later justr wanted to upgrade the dac, would I just buy the Bitforst separately and while using the Jotunheim separately as a Amp only. Would that work?

jah_offisah808Absolutely! That is exactly what I am using. The DAC upgrade for the Jot only comes into play if you have your USB source connected to it. The Gen 5 USB in the Bifrost sounds better, not night and day, but definitely better.

jah_offisah808I would recommend getting the dac straight away, if you plan on running off USB. If its money limitations, I would literally drop the custom cable for now as its an excellent dac and will save you $50 from buying separately. The jot is an awesome headphone amp, and although it doesnt have the flattest, most neutral sound signature compared to other amps, it sounds great with almost any headphone. I have used my Jotunheim with various Grados, Fostex TH610 and T-X0, M50X, K7XX and various Sennheisers. All sound excellent. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

NJbonelessThanks for the recommendation and yes will be purchasing the Jot in very soon and it's a step up from my previous Oppo HA-2 dac 1st generation and LH labd geekout V2 + Infinity DAC. I swear to God why I haven't heard about Schitt audio back a year ago before wasting my money this peace of crap of V2 Infinity dac. Looking foward to the Jotenheim with the HD 6XX on the way and using my EL-8 closed back cans and my Isine 20 IEM's. I'm currently also using Foobar2000 and got audioquest hig end USB cables and the audioquest Jitterbug usb noise conditioner. How are they K7XX? That would be my next headphones if massdrop makes a drop again on it.

NJboneless Also do you think the HD 6XX will sound good with my Onkyo DP X1 dap player ?And it does support 300 ohms impedance since the HD 6XX is a 300 ohm.

jah_offisah808I think the K7XX are awesome sounding but I personally don't recommend them anymore due to poor build quality. Mine are the first editions so I have had them a while and they creak when moved and the headband elastic is so loose after a couple years that my cheeks get more music than my ears. If you can look past that they are awesome. As for my thoughts on the HD6XX paired with your X1 I cant say as I don't own either of them. My HD6XX won't be here until Christmas along with the other 25000 sold haha.
