As I know that all of us have had plenty of time to think about this, what will be the first song that you will listen to on your anticipated 6XX's?!

teeggI actually thought about this. A part of me just wants to do the classic Hotel California. But I might do Red Like Roses from the RWBY sound track.

teeggI'll listen to Who's Next, particularly Behind Blue Eyes. Not only is this my favorite album of all time (I bought it the week it was released--on vinyl--in 1971), but John Entwistle's bass gives me a good idea of the bass response of a new set of headphones. Entwistle is great on every cut (and even better on live albums, where his bass is more like a rhythm, and sometimes lead, guitar) but his work on Behind Blue Eyes is the most melodic bass work I've ever heard.
BTW, I got my shipping notice about 15 minutes ago--12:30 AM here in NJ.

MarloweDo old vynle sound good? I know it depends on the condition of the grooves, but do the newer ones sound better? I found all of the beetles albums in vynle, and they seem to be original releases. I just don't know if I should use them, or buy new ones (not original's)

Radamaster3000I guess my comment was ambiguous. Though I bought it the album on vinyl, I haven't had any LPs--or a turntable--for a long, long time. I listen via Tidal lossless.

MarloweDo you think HiFi Tidal is worth it? I have been considering the extra cost for a long time, and since purchasing the 6XX's, it's reinforcing the cause for getting it!

teegg Mostly yes, especially since I can't afford to replace the 1,000+ CD collection I lost in a personal crisis a few years ago. Tidal HiFi ($20/month in the US) streams at lossless CD quality ( 16bit/44.1kHz) and sounds great over my setup: USB from laptop to Schiit Eitr (a great piece of gear that converts the signal to S/PDIF coaxial)>Modi Multibit>Valhalla 2>Sennheiser HD700, occasionally Hifiman 400i. (Mobile listening with a mediocre smartphone and Sennheiser IE80 IEMs is acceptable, but not nearly as good though a noticeable step up from Spotify Premium.) Most of what I want to listen to is available, but there are odd gaps (i.e., some notable albums will be missing even though the artist's other albums on the same label are available).
However, I do have some problems with the Tidal Windows 10 app. I've had it almost a year and it worked perfectly until about three months ago when I began to have multiple problems with it. Between 10-20% of the time, the track will not automatically advance at its conclusion but buffer endlessly until advanced manually. Extremely annoying. Also Tidal Masters (24 bit/192kHz, available on a small but growing number of albums at no additional charge if you have Tidal HiFi but only on the Tidal PC app) has become unusable since about 75% of the time when a new track starts it is distorted sludge unless manually restarted. Tidal Support was extremely unhelpful and even snippy, closing my ticket after 2-3 days (on Labor Day weekend in the US, BTW) when I was unable to find all the information they requested. (TBH, I really don't notice much improvement with Masters recordings, which uses something called MQA. Apparently the real improvement of this format cannot really be heard unless your DAC can decode MQA, and Schiit ATM declines to add this to its DACs. Tidal software will decode it in this case, but not at the same level of quality as hardware decoding.)
I do understand that Spotify will probably be adding a lossless level in the near future. Given the gaps in Tidal's catalog, and my bad experience with Tidal support, I will likely switch when Spotify lossless is available.

teeggBillie Jean by MJ will be my first song. It has many good aspects to judge headphones on.
Then I listen to so this audiophile mix music playlist on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-h6MoF7HLA&list=RDD-h6MoF7HLA&t=1
Also what ever high quality music files you have on your computer.

MarloweMy biggest issue with Tidal has been their dreadful mobile app, but any mobile phone (even with a mobile DAC) won't do well with sound. I do notice a significant jump in sound quality with Tidal once I jump to their master level audio since my DAC, cheap as it is, can decode MQA. Personally I may invest in a better DAC just to get the full experience with the 6xx. Tidal on desktop is just a lot easier than dealing with replacing all my CDs, though I did get the rare ones back.
As for songs, I finally got a FLAC of Spock's Beard, "At the End of the Day" and I'll definitely be running that. My favorite song for the entire time I've been collecting music. After that I'll likely run the gamut with the entirety of Ayreon's "The Source" in Tidal's MQA version.

teeggTidal has a free 30-day trial, so why not just give it a go? As mentioned by someone else, they also offer a higher than CD-quality setting for some albums now as well - which is what intrigued me to sign up, in anticipation of receiving the HD6XX's.
Most of Wilco's albums are available in these "Master" versions, which I particularly like!
I should probably look into getting an MQA DAC to make best use of it...

MarloweThanks for the comments! I have been using Apple music, because discounts. I like the fact that Apple music has such a huge library. Do you notice that there are a lot of content gaps?I figure I could possibly use an upgrade, but I am trying to figure out if I should go for Spotify, Tidal or stay with Apple

dan_tmI bought an xDuoo 05 - XD for the time being because I do a fair bit of traveling around. I think it has enough 'oomphf' for the time being, but I might make the investment in a Magni/Modi at some point in time. But I desired portability for the time being!

teeggI'll check it out! My tastes are a bit dated, yeah. That's to be expected though, I'm just a teenager going through the obligatory classic rock phase before I find some other genre to latch onto ;)
