So, I received my hd 6xx today. Up until now I was using the hd 518 with the jotunheim dac/amp that I bought a month ago for the hd 6xx. The sound from the 6xx is better but the 518 has more volume. I wanted to ask if anybody knows why is that, shouldn't the 6xx have more volume especially with the jotunheim. I am completely newbie to this audiophile sound thing so I don't know if there is a problem or everything is as it should be.
msag23Do you mean, you have the jotunheim at full tilt and still you're headphone isn't loud enough? I don't think that should happen. Are you sure the player you're using is at full volume? I personally don't have a jotunheim, but what you're saying sounds suspicious
Ludog14Ok, thank you. I also while I was searching I found something about Equalizer APO for my pc. I downloaded it and changed the Preamp value from the config file from -6 db (default) to 12db and now the 6xx are much more louder and the sound is even more amazing
msag23If you're using windows, use foobar & asio driver, which will skip all your system settings and control your jot, giving you a much better sound. Only problem is foobar will take exclusive access of your Jot, which should be okay. Most audio software ruins audio, so don't use them.

" Please note that this component is meant for systems where ASIO is the only available output method. It is highly recommended to use the default output modes instead of ASIO. Contrary to popular "audiophile" claims, there are NO benefits from using ASIO as far as music playback quality is concerned, while bugs in ASIO drivers may severely degrade the performance. "
darthvaper79All i can say is try it and decide for yourself; it's not like you have to pay for it :). One of the first things you can do with asio driver is set your settings to the max that your dac can offer, which you can't do otherwise.
