Ordered my AKG 7XX, and I saw this deal... Wondering if Sennheiser 6XX is better for me. I listen many kinds of music, mostly pop, rock, electronic, but also listening classic or or jazz while I'm doing paperwork. I've heard that the mid and bass of AKG 7XX is a little weak, I don't know it is true though. I mainly use my pc to play music, I also have a Sound Blaster E5 and LG V20. So which headphones are better for me to get?Thank you gays!

YunhaoI think the 7XX is a better fit for you, it's better for a wider range of genres like the ones you've listed and you've got sufficient gear to drive them. Most people grabbing the HD6XX either have TOTL amps or are looking to upgrade their existing ones. I haven't listened to a K7XX but I have a K702. I heard they are similar, in which case they are very neutral but not lacking in bass or mids, maybe they can be considered as lacking if you're accustomed to bass heavy headphones like the Fostex.

YunhaoK7XXs are better for pop and electronic music, they are bassier. HD6XXs are much better for Jazz or Classical. The one complaint that everyone who tries my 6XXs who is not a headphone person, is that there isn’t a ton of bass when they listen to rap music. Unfortunately in the minds of people today a good headphone just means that it can put out massive amounts of bass, and that’s it. Hence why Beats sells a ton of headphones. The 6XXs aren’t extremely low bass headphones, but they I would say are slightly below average, which combined with their sound signature is why they excel at more classical and instrumental music.

YunhaoI just upgraded to the 6xx from the Q701. I listen mostly Trance and electronic music and I like my new 6xx better. I actually think the narrower soundstage fits better here. Female vocals are crystal clear and upfront with the 6xx. As for the bass, my q701 were definitely lacking a bit but i heard that the k7xx have small boost in the low end. Honestly, you should be pleased with both but I could not be happier with my upgrade.

Yunhaoif you can only afford one, then dump the 7xx, and get the 6xx. The 6xx are just better with almost any type of music.

J_December_whyWe I would buy a 6xx, is there an amp to higher the bass if I wanted to listen to a more heavy music from time to time? I listen to a lot of music but don't know that much about audiofiles stuff. And is there a better headphones in general then the 6xx at a lower price because I don't know how much the 6xx are better then the rest as I didn't listen to them in my life. I will be glad if someone will answer.

DragonorpI currently have my 6xx paired with the really cheap fiio e10k. Most will say that the 6xx need more power than that but if you listen mostly to modern music (generally more compressed and louder), you should be fine with it. It's really inexpensive and it has a bass boost switch if you want some more low end. Also, if you want to upgrade in the future, you can still pair it up with a more powerful amp and still use the fiio as a DAC.

Dragonorp I wish you good luck because headphones are as varied as women. My harem consists of 10 headphones. If I had to marry one… I would pick the Audio Technica m40x , one of my top favorites because they are fun. The 6xx are a sophisticated rendezvous.

WOLFGANG420I am getting here a mixed opinions. I listen to classic rock music from the 70-80,jazz,a little bit of rap/hip hop and I play games(casualy) and watch a lot of media so if there is supposed to be a bass i want to here it the best I can and 200 is most I am willing to pay. What is the best headphones for that?

J_December_whyI Think I didn't explain me right. My main need in my headphones is a good punch , clarity in the sound and I want to hear all of the instruments playing when I hear a more complex song/music. Bass is a secondry need just for when stuff go kaboom in movies.

Dragonorpthen you need 2 headphones, start with the 6xx, then later get the m40x with ZMF cowhide pads. I have them both and that's how I use them. 6xx for music, modded m40x for movies with kaboom. however, the modded m40x sound a lot better with a good amp to fill with sound the space created by the pads.

DragonorpThis is per my trials. m50x are very V shaped, I tried them at the store and did not like them, highs are too sharp. I find the m40x to have the bass loud enough with nice highs, the V is not exageratly pronounced. I dont know about modding the m50x, because I have not tried them modded. I have the RBH HP-2 and they are a slopping line " \ ", very loud on bass and progressively less loud to the highs, and they are nicely detaied on the frequency rage. this is my usage: hd6xx - for detailed music. I dont like to watch movies with these. m40x - to watch movies, I like the soundstage with the ZMF cowhide pads. bass is very comfortable. HP-2 - these for the fun rumble in movies and music, but sometimes I find the bass overpowering so I choose depening on the music/movie experience.
