My HD6XXs (from the October drop) arrived in New Zealand on 22 December, just in time for Christmas. I already own a pair of HD650s (bought new nearly 8 years ago) and I wanted these as a second pair to use at work, or to fit with a ModMic for gaming... I haven't actually decided what my real excuse for buying them is yet.
It's interesting to compare the sound and comfort of brand new headphones with those that are well worn in. Straight away it's noticeable that my older HD650s are slightly louder, have better treble definition and are waaay more comfortable (the clamping force reduces significantly over time) than the straight-out-of-the-box HD6XXs. BTW, I use a Schiit Bifrost AK4490 and Asgard 2 stack. So the moral of the story is: if you have concerns about comfort or sound quality with the HD6XXs, chances are they'll only get better over time. :)
On the cosmetic side of things, I like the dark blue colour of the HD6XXs but the glossy finish on the HD650s definitely looks more premium and expensive than the matte 'plasticky' finish on the HD6XXs.
As for price paid - wow. I paid nearly three times more for the HD650s than I did for the HD6XXs. Nothing more to say there!

DistorterI was at the very end of the July drop, so it didn't ship till the 7th. And the last update was on the 23rd. So I'm guessing I'd have had it by now if the 24th wasn't a Sunday followed by Christmas.

Certainly not in the mood of suggesting MassDrop to anybody after this experience.

astrohawiSorry to hear that! I must admit, during our Black Friday sales here in NZ (the US trend has caught on), genuine HD650s got down to the equivalent of US$295 a pair, and I thought "maybe I should've just bought these instead of waiting". But I'm glad I waited now - they look pretty cool and are getting more comfortable every day.
