Just noticed that this drop has been extended another 25 days. Is that normal? Is it just so they can meet their 10,000 unit limit? I'm still debating between these or the 58X. I have 598s right now.

Mark_MIf you are ready to get a headphone amp, then get the 6xx. By the way, the 95$ Massdrop O2 currently available (or the Massdrop O2 - SDAC) is all you need for the 6xx if you want to limit your budget for an amp.

Mark_MI don’t know that unit but from its description it provides 300 ohm compatibility and enough voltage to drive the HD6xx. You may try it out and see for yourself. In any case, the 6xx is a no brainer at 199$. It is a proven headphone. The 58x is maybe a good headphone, but very few had yet the opportunity of trying it Out. And it has significantly less bass than the 650/6xx from what we see from the graphs...

tessierpgKeep in mind for me the Canadian exchange rate. But the 6XX doesn't have muddy bass right? I prefer tight bass and clear treble.

Mark_MI think the bass is excellent. « Muddy »is exxagerated. No the bass isn’t as tight as let’s say the HD25. But it is good and a lot better than the HD598. How about the HD58x? I don’t know, but the graphs i’ve seen show that the bass is cleaner but a lot leaner, and to my taste I’m sure i’d prefer the bass of the 6xx. As for this deal, I live in Montréal and the best deal for the HD650 is on Amazon.ca at 599$ CAD. Fillion and Layton Audio retail stores sells them 649$ CAD. So for Canadians the Massdrop offer is marginally a better deal than in the US (359$ USD on amazon.com, apparently now deliverable in Canada, equivalent to about 455$ CAD). BTW I paid only 23$ of fees/gst on reception at Canada Post For my Massdrop HD6xx purchase. At the current exchange rate the purchase comes up to about 290$ CAD all Massdrop and delivery fees included... very good deal indeed! And by the way if you need a longer cable such as the one 9ft provided with the genuine HD650, it’s available at about 16$ at Sennheiser Canada, or 24$ together with the 3.5mm adaptor.

tessierpgHmm okay. Well the 6XX drop is extended so I have a bit of time to think it over. In terms of looks I think I like the 58X better. But as long as either is comfortable for long liste sessions it should be good.
