I'm very confused about the HD 6XX and the almost concluded Jubilee HD 58X. Regardless of your taste in output, which one is supposed to be the more premium headphones?
The Jubilee 58X claims to be two generations further than the HD6XX but why is this one 200 dollars and Jubilee is only 150 dollars? Can someone explain the difference? As of this comment, there are only 12 hours to go before it concludes.

markcocjin6XXs are better than the 58Xs. That is just when each product was released. Nothing to do with how good it is.

CokemanI'm debating between the two myself. I know the 6XX (650) has a proven track record but the price of the 58X despite the much longer wait time to ship makes it more appealing. I'm coming from 598s currently.

Mark_M$50 over 6 months is nothing. The 6XXs (650s) are a tried and true can. They would end up in most people’s top 10 headphones of all time list.

CokemanI don't doubt they would. They would certainly be the most expensive headphones I've ever owned. I got my 598s brand new on Kijiji for $150. The 6XX would be $270 CAD given the exchange rate and shipping charge.

Mark_MYeah but the 58Xs would also have shipping and exchange rate. So it basically cancels out.

CokemanThe 58X would be $207 with shipping and exchange rate. Still a $63 difference. Too me that's a lot but maybe I'm just cheap. LOL Then again I could sell my 598s to gain some money back.

Mark_MYes I would definitely take the 6XXs over the 58Xs. There’s a reason one costs more.

CokemanPotentially true. But I would argue that something that costs more isn't always better. Take Beats or Bose headphones for example. Do you have the HD6XX already?

Mark_MYes I do. But that logic doesn’t apply because these are from the same lineup.

CokemanWould you say the 6XX is a noticeable step up from the 598s?

CokemanI'm just wondering if my Micca Origen+ can power them adequately. It claims to be able to power up to 600 Ohms.

markcocjinGo for HD 6XX, until you get it and you would be speechless! I got one HD 6XX with the ASUS Xonar sound card on my desktop PC, sooo incredible over than gaming headset... cheap headset gives you bad sound distortion. Crank up half way with the new headset there smooth and clear crisp sound! If you need a mic then get a AntLion Audio ModMic or massdrop ModMic.

markcocjinI got a pair of HD580s ~2004. At the time, and for a while afterwards, the HD580 and the HD600 had the exact same driver. The only difference was that the 580 had a plastic grill and the 600 had a metal grill. The HD600 was originally released as a special edition HD580, but later renamed. This was confirmed by Sennheiser ~2011 when I looked for replacement parts. I'm not sure whether it's the same situation now (this was before the HD650 launch), but if it's still the case, I would have probably gone with the 580s.
If you have invested, or plan on investing $1000+ in DACs/AMPs and only listening to lossless/analog/96kHz/etc. sources, then it might make sense to look into the tiny tiny tiny differences, but you should be warned that a large part of audiophiledom has reached well into the realm of subconscious biases. The differences between some models can be even more subtle than the barometric pressure of the atmosphere, the angle of your head, the wear time of the drivers, or the tension of the muscles in your face and people will swear by one or the other before admitting it's just manufacturing variability.
Case in point, look at the number of people talking about how much better/worse the HD580, HD598, HD600, and HD650 are and realize that these all had (at some point in the last 15 years) the exact same drivers. Slightly different screen, or headband, or earpad, or cord, or design.

Neurohax600/58x is supposed to be brighter. 650 is supposed to have more bass, and "warm" tuning. this is shown by measurements, reported by reviewers... and sennheiser itself, presenting 600 as to be used by sound engineers, and the 650 as more suitable for non-pro listening.
I don't have a 600 to compare...however you must be right: the differences must be subtitle.
either way...based on theory, I would personally chose the 6xx over the 58x......the 6xx is just a fantastic pair!

Baal_HammonI'm still debating between the two 58X or 6XX. For whatever reason I can't make up my mind. But it seems to me that I can't go wrong with the 6XX.

Baal_HammonI would take all the HD580/HD600/HD650 comparisons with a grain of salt. The three have been dissected and compared for over a decade and the consensus I've seen is that they're physically identical except for casing materials and cable. Here's a post from 2007: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hd580-vs-hd600-technically-the-same.261700/
Now, I'm not saying that it's a problem, but I DO think that Sennheiser simply realized they had a winning design and made tweaks to market it better, not sound better. I haven't heard the 650s, but owned 580s and borrowed 600s for a bit (5+ years ago), and taking into account manufacturing variability and the little tweaks Senn does over time without assigning new product numbers, they sounded the same. I would still go with the 600s for a modest price bump because they feel higher quality. But, my general rule is that the placebo effect/confirmation bias increases exponentially with price when drivers, geometry, condition, and airflow are held constant, so I try to remain skeptical until proven wrong.
I'm just excited to be getting a pair again. I LOVED my HD580s, which broke right after I got another set of cans that I could barely justify. You can't go wrong with any of these models. I've listened to 50+ pairs of good headphones and if anyone asks me for a recommendation, I always point to the 580/600/650 (unless they're acoustic and rock only, then Grados).
Here's a good, brief piece I found on the history: https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/very-important-sennheiser-hd-580-hd-600-and-hd-650
