MegazineHere are some of the headphones I have so far:
Sennheiser 6XX
Sony MDR MA900
AKG K702
Fostex TH-X00 PurpleHearts
Sennheiser PXC 550
Along with a few more gaming headsets.
The Sennheisers are the most enjoyable to listen to and best all-around.
The purplehearts are the most fun.
Buying a 2nd pair of the 6XX for my girlfriend.
Next pair of headphones I buy for myself will likely be the HD 800 S.
MegazineV-Shaped. Loads of bass. It actually has so much bass that it can vibrate the treble sound waves If played loud enough. Its still sounds pretty clean and makes music... just more fun. These are best for EDM in my opinion. When I have the purplehearts on I will bob my head a lot more because I’m getting into the song. The 6XX is more angelic.
MegazineYeah, Z-reviews says from his memory the mhagony and purplehearts are very similar, but apparently the purplehearts have slightly more bass... when I hear the 2 sound demos on z-review the mahogany actually sounds a lot better to me. So I dunno.
MegazineThe Fostex Purplehearts are not very good for use in public. The cable is too long, and the headphones are on the heavy side, the Fostex is better for bumping music really loud at home and you don’t wanna bother anyone. (I also use the SubPac when I want heavy heavy bass without bothering anyone)
HaVoCTzuGo audition the 800 vs 800S in-store. I found that the 800 was less sibilant to my ears (might have been because it was aged about a year longer) which was the whole reason people were rushing to sell their 800 and get a 800S. I ended up getting a used 800 for almost a third of the price because the 800 sounded better to my ears than the S and am super happy with my choice.
