Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I like to use HE4xx for gaming and things I'd like to hear clearly. I feel that the bass is probably stronger in this than the HD6xx. Treble is fine, but does become fatiguing if its constant.
But for enjoying music I go to HD6xx albeit it is quite warm. Only after auditioning this HP did I realize that detail and accuracy isn't everything (such as HE4xx), but a good overall balance on all frequency really makes the music a pleasurable listening experience. Headfonics' review said " vivid heft to the overall sound signature " and "impressive smoothness" which I totally agree with.
...And while I'm at it, does anyone know how you can make the HD6xx a little bit brighter, other than employing the equalizer?

And a very thorough document on how various modifications can affect the overall sound signature of the headphones:

Or if you like jumping into the deep end of things head-on: (Make sure you read through everything first before jumping onto the wagon there though... )

Thanks for the info and link to all those who replied. I'll give them a go.
EDIT: Whoa.... I just took out the foam filter between the earpads and headphone and now it's TOO bright for me. I can probably play around with a different filter material.
