When I found out about these, I was excited. I currently own a gaming headset I got on sale for €30 and I was wondering if I would notice a big enough difference. I primarily would use them for gaming and casual listening. Thanks in advance for your help

DylanGallagherI say yes, but that's coming from experience when I upgraded from $50 headphones to hd25 with an amp many many years ago. (My 6xx ships in friggin July!)
I suspect most would say you'll get the best out of the set with an amp.

DylanGallagherDepends on what you're gaming/ listening with. If it's a laptop computer chances are you probably won't have enough juice. If it's a desktop depends on the motherboard, some may be enough to power the HD 6XXs but some may not.
My suggestion is to wait for the headphone first, plug it into the back of the computer (the front I think has less power don't quote me on this though I'm not 100% sure) and see how it sounds. If it's too quiet or anemic, see if you have a Realtek Audio Manager (not the volume control), and then under the Analog 'Back Panel' area see which port your headphone is connected to, try double clicking it, and if a new window pops up make sure the output is checked as "headphones" instead of speakers. This will make things a bit louder, if that's not an option or if it's still too quiet then you'll have to look for an external DAC+AMP.
Will you hear a difference between your $30 gaming headset and the HD6XX? If you give it enough power yes you'll definitely hear a difference whether it be in your games or listening to music. If you play FPS games and stuff you'll probably hear things that you couldn't before, which might help your gaming experience a bit.

OakbingThank you so much. The funny thing I noticed is that when I game on xbox, I plug it into wireless controller and at max volume it is way less loud than my laptop
