Is HD6xx a good gaming headphones (connecting to the xbox1 controller) or HD58x is better due to lower ohm? Thx.

BigbearThe 58x will definitely be easier to drive, and my guess is the Xbox controller doesn't have the power to drive the 6xx well. Another set of cans to look at would be the k7xx- they have a wider soundstage than the 6xx and make for a more comfortable, better gaming headset. They are 150 ohm just like the 58x so they should also be easier to drive than the 6xx.
jpkebThe AKG K7xx is 62 Ohms impedance... but it actually has such a low sensitivity and efficiency that it needs about as much current as the HD 6XX anyway. Xbox One controller is so low fidelity that it will collapse the soundstage and make the differences there minimal anyway.
Comfort between the oval earpad HD 6XX/58X and the circular earpad + suspension headband of the K7XX is subjective... would you prefer a padded headband, or an unpadded leather strap that is form-fitting? Pads are both basically free from touching your ear, but the shapes will rest on different spots of the side of a head. The Sennheisers have more initial clamping force but get more comfortable with time or careful bending. The AKGs initially have less clamping force but it’s focused more on the bottom edge of the pads and your jaw unless you have a wide head, but over time the pads break in, and the elastic for the headband gets looser. Both will essentially be comfortable to wear for hours at a time.
The HD 58X Jubilee is more efficient than the HD 6XX or K 7XX, but for gaming, the PC37X is less expensive, much easier to drive, and if you get a $3 Y-adapter cable you can use the integrated microphone (which can flip up and mute when not in use).

BigbearIn simple words, don't drive headphones off Xbox controllers. Period. Especially high end headphones like these. It will feel very claustrophobic as the soundstage will not be there, detail would be close to any $50 pair of headphones you could pick up at walmart, and they simply wouldn't drive them. Oh, and artifacts. I've had bad artifacting problems on every headphone and earbud I've plugged into an Xbox controller. If you're spending $200, you might as well go for something like the Turtle Beach Elite 800x(thats what I've used for a few years) still a bit closed off though. Astro headsets for Xbox, I've heard they have slightly better soundstage and clarity, but cost a little more. If you really just want something to plug into a controller, get something like the SteelSeries Siberia 100 or Arctis 3.
