EDIT found the issue, it was a ground loop issue due to another amp causing the problem HD6XX is brilliant with my amp now
So I got mine this morning and was happy with performance somewhat, we will get to that I gave the headband a slight bend in the metal to allow for better comfort then went to change my HD600 cable as it was longer So when I 1st tested the cans it was just with my audio interface, no external amp, given unamped per se, sounded promising, so I then went to hook up my G&W T2.6F. This is where it seems apparent the cans have me confused Any amount of volume I seem to have some low end distortion which for mastering purposes, I need the cans to go louder than normal, to hear the quieter passages I seem to missing some mid range/mid highs that were there on my DT770s. So when I do try to reveal upper end/mids, I get this really bad flab of bass, that is distorted, I don't believe I am over driving them and the amp is specific for these cans Is it because I am coming from a closed can to open that given all things are equal, I am getting a louder representation without driving the DT770s harder so have a better representation of the source? I cannot begin to fathom what is going on, I am thinking I have faulty cans, I could just now hear some flabby bass come through and I do not know if it is my mix or not Everything I hear is a clear indication that my mix is fine, ie through various other cans/speakers, it is critical I get this sorted as I wanted these cans to do mastering on, I am looking in the future at getting Monitors but just don't have the funds atm More than likely Adam AX5s due to the size/ front firing port and controls This aside, I am trying to figure out what is more accurate between the DT770 and HD6XX Bass is handled well on the DT770, HD6XX has all the low end twang and punch of say 100Hz but lower, much lower of maybe around 50 is where I think the issues start to appear It could be my mix, I was just listening and heard a pop of bass, something I have not heard before, it's distorting the drivers which is annoying I will say, I cannot mix on these cans due to how soft they are in volume, when I turn them up, I get that bottom end distortion that does not appear on the DT770s
Anyone want to chime in?

SnakePlisskenOK so I can rule out the cans being faulty as I ran them through my Focusrite 18i8 and I don't get any of the issues I spoke of with the bass, I am thinking it is my G&W, will do some checking

SnakePlisskenThis might be totally unrelated but when I first got mine and plugged them into the O2 amp, I had horrible distortions on all volumes and very low volumes despite turning the knob to almost full which had me thinking I got a dud unit. I know the O2 is okay as I tested it with other earphones/speakers
Turns out, the problem was the plug/adapter. I hadn't fully unwound the cable so due the positioning of the amp and keyboard on my desk pushing against the plug ends, the 1/8" adapter wasn't making good contact on with the 1/4" and the amp. A wiggle and swap of adapter fixed that issue.

SnakePlisskenIt's not the age when it comes to tubes, it's the hours. The input tubes I'm running right now are 48 years old but never used until today. My power tube is 49! Crapped up sound on a tube amp is most likely the tubes...especially when running 300ohm cans.

SnakePlisskenThat's a lot of hours! Your amp must be pretty easy on the tubes. I never heard the T2, but I like the looks of it.
