TunesloverI'm dying over here waiting for them and its only been a month. XD
Jeff-DI hear ya bud... but I’m also hearing a regular HD 650, and so I know you’re going to like what you hear! Well, within consideration for personal preference 😆
For fun, I made a short playlist of some songs I think sound great on the HD 650 (and thus HD 6XX). There’s a pretty good mix of stuff... maybe this could be fun to familiarize yourself with while you wait, and then see how they sound with the HD 6XX once they arrive?

EvshrugThat's awesome! I'll definitely give it a listen so I can compare it when they get here. I just really wish I had headphones right now. I think my MEE PX sound great but they just don't have the big sound that a good set of cans have. They have good clarity and the imaging isn't bad either. I just feel like small drivers are limited. The bass is clear but its so quiet it really drops off. The mids are great on them I think they sound awesome for rock. Guitar and vocals really shine with these. The treble isn't terrible but it also feels a little lacking in fullness. Its still better than the bass but its just not quite there. Overall I'm happy with them they are great for IEMs but they are IEMs. Plus the improvement in everything when I plugged them into the Aune was really cool to hear.
I kept turning the volume up to try to get more out of them and it made my ears ring. Its taken about 2 weeks of limited usage of them and using speakers till my ears have mostly healed. I'm wondering if it was the volume or just earwax buildup? Either way I am kind of disappointed in my self. I am usually really careful about volume but sometimes with iems it is so easy to turn it up too high. I'm being extra careful of volume in general now. I want to keep enjoying music.
Jeff-DOur ears can be pretty durable against loud sounds in the short term. I’m not an audiologist or fully remembering, but your eardrums actually change after a loud sound to try to reduce volume and protect your hearing, and earwax is also produced to try and soften the impact. A little bit of earwax is healthy, but sometimes our ears make a lot when under duress.
ears ringing is a sign of going too far, and as you get older you’ll start hearing the ringing even when nothing loud happened. I think Tinnitus unfortunately is as common as nearsightedness (they’re not linked, I’m just saying), and permanent. You may not have it yet though. Here’s some great research on safe listening levels and times before hearing damage:
